Shocks/struts..confused!

Hmmm... i know everyone hates me by now, cuz i put up the stupidest comments on here..but i'm confused on shocks/struts. For 01 civic i was told that all i need is struts and there is no shock. For example, i email this dude at modacar.com and this is what he says
"There is not a decision between the two. Your vehicle is equipped with struts, so you do not have to choose between the two. We currently do not have a listing for a set of struts for your vehicle, but you may want to look into Koni, KYB, and Tokico, as they all make high quality
struts."
So in conclusion, if i spend money on decent struts..that will take care of my supension?? Well back to searching...thanks for helping oyt this beginner
