You dont get that much lift and the ride is like My car rides better with cylinders. But that is just me.

Ive got a question for spanky. I had a 87 mustang with bags which i had to cut and weld stuff to fit. Where i sat the bag was where my springs go, so i was just riding on struts and bags in the front and shocks and bags in the back. I loved it but it was a bumpy ride since i didn't have in springs in it. Is this the same for the kit you have. Is the cylinder the only thing the car is riding on for suspension. Can you get a better pic of the bracket you made so everyone can see it more clearly. Who is the best company to go with for 100% fit. Why did you have to make a bracket, the kit didn't come with it. please let me know by this thread or emailing me at lst_2001@yahoo.com thanks matt
I was one of the first with air suspension in this nation and my car was basically a gineau pig with air suspension on a new civic... i havent read everything on this thread but ill give VALUABLE information to those interested in air suspension.... number 1 DONT GO TO A & G CUSTOMS ADVERTISED ON POWER 106 IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA hahah I just had to get that out of the way... I have mcpherson bags in the front and cylinders in the rear ... The mistake I've done with my car is that A & G customs cut my struts in front and drained the oil that's supposed to be in it, this accounts for the bad quality of the ride and basically the car steers sometimes wherever it wants to go on its own. I have been told u can put the bag mounted on the strut without cutting and draining of the strut. For those of you who already have done this you may go and repair your strut and maybe get some ride quality out of it and still be able to mount the bags, however for cylinder applications in front the strut must be cut to fit it in place. My rear was on bags before but they kept ripping and crimping in place, Used to tuck half of my rims and hop around 2 ft. off the floor. I replaced those with cylinders and the ride got somewhat better, i can reach 90 on the freeway now hahahah. but i sacrificed speed and ability to go lower. There are shops really good with air suspension and can make the RIGHT brackets in which the bags should b mounted in the rear without crimping and ripping as mine did. for those out in southern california i recommend devious customs shop or kustom workz. and as for the front to go lower... there is a place where they manufacture oversized mcpherson cylinders called brisland customs www.brislands.com ... to my knowledge this is the cylinders to go for but run pretty expensive... these should be used on the front struts of the car and i've heard dey could sit the front just about 2" under the lip of an 18" rim. Doing this would require for the strut to be cut however. But i've heard the cylinders have a nice feel to them and should ride just fine. My suggestion to bagging the rear would be to use a proper triple fold bag, not ur conventional double fold. Using this would help lift the car a little with just the right amount of tuck without the wheels hitting the wheelwell, this could be a very scary driving condition. Unless you decide to "tub" the rear wheelwells of your 2k civic i suggest you go with the triple fold bags and avoid the hassle of worrying about rubbing your tires while driving... its a b***h. As for my setup I run bags in front excentrix parker cylinders in rear 8 smc 1/2 in. valves, 1/2 in. lines , 7 1/2 gallon tank, 10 switches, and 4 firestone compressors sitting at around 250 psi. As for valves i suggest smc or parker valves, choosing the right valves makes a big difference in speed and reliability
are you using strut bags in the front? or are you using those bags over strut type deals.. cause i dont see why they would need to hack up the struts up front.. couldnt they just make custom brackets?
btw have any pics of your car? i'd love to see your car.. also there's a 7thgencivic meet coming up this sat feb 8th, it would be great if you could make it.. here's the link.. feb 8th meet its going to be in woodland hills but its going to end up in santa monica which isnt too far from you i dont think.. if you cant make it to woodland hills, it be koo if you could just make it to santa monica.
I'm using the bag over strut ones... and yes they could of made better brackets but those idiots who installed it obviously didnt know what they were doing and started cutting and stripping like no tommorrow
so where did you get your bags done at? you named a few places but not where exactly.. how much was it? who made the rear brackets? how much were just the brackets? oh and i edited my post up above.. i was just letting you know about a meet we have coming up this saturday
haha im sorry you can look up both the places I named on the internet... my first recommendation would be devious customs( you'll never go wrong with these guys garaunteed ) at www.deviouscustoms.com, the next would be kustom workz out in whittier calif. www.kustomworkz.com ( not a very good webpage but has phone number on it ) these are the guys i went to fix out the bugs in my system remount the valves and soon to go there for reinstallation of rear bags. The brackets were actually free from a & g customs since they f***ed up so badly and so were the cylinders =)... it rides alrite now but i do wish i can sit lower so i decided to hell with it and go back with the bags in rear and mayb ill save a little money and replace the front with the brisland mac air cylinders ( i heard these stand abuse up to 4 ft. off the ground with no problems ) and the place i chose to have do this installation is devious customs ( they said they recently had a 2k civic slammed in the front, with the wheels butterflying at negative chamber!!! )
And as for the meet.. im going to be at ucla on sat. and since you guys will be cruising down to santa monica it's 5 mins away!!!... so let me know the exact location and approx. what time its going to be at.
i would say it rides pretty bouncy... but not as bouncy as it was with bags in the rear... im not sure how it would ride with cylinders in front tho.... id say it rides pretty good handling got much better... i can take corners faster than i could of with just springs, especially when you drop a corner its the most fun youll get out of a civic.
The bag set up i have is the brisland mac air cylinders as far as bag over struts those things suck ass. all i run is parker, Viair and brisland mac air cylinders. My car rides good at a certain hight level rides like stock. I like how mine rides with no problems. Sorry to hear about ur encounter at that one shop. Be aware there are alot of shops just like that one everywhere. I juts do it myself and not have to worry about them f*****g up my ride.
i found a good looking front setup at " Airbagit.com" which has a 2001-2003 civic setup with the lower strut and arm mounts and a reagular bag attached...it retailed for 500 for the pair....but the company that says up top reads "AIM" what do you guys think ? i have 2 options and thats one of them. http://www.truckn-store.com/product.asp?returnURL=default.asp&ID=22089
