Dropping the ride...

Hey all, I'm looking to drop my 05 coupe. I was leaning toward a setup of Tokico HPs with H&R Sports. I have read some old posts that H&Rs will provide the drop I want (around 1.5"), but they sag in the rear. I am purchasing new rims and tires (215/45's) this month as well.

Does anyone have a setup similar to this? How do you like it? Having a fairly smooth ride is important to me as well, along with NOT scraping over speedbumps. No lip kits or anything either. If I don't go with the H&R Sports, I'll most likely go with Eibach Sportlines...your thoughts?

Re: Dropping the ride...

usually the only reason springs sag is from carrying heavy crap in the trunk, or blown shocks.

Re: Dropping the ride...

Thanks, gear! Anybody have this setup on a coupe? Pics? The pics in the stickied "official suspension drop" thread are mostly gone and I couldn't find any of this setup.

Cool, how long have you had the springs on your stock struts?

Re: Dropping the ride...

i have had my h&r springs and stock struts for over a year. the ride is pretty smooth for the most part, but some bigger bumps hit hard. i love the drop, it is perfect for me.

Re: Dropping the ride...

You could always look into Progress springs 1.8" F 2.0" R. You might think there to low though but I love em, there's not enough low springs for this car.

Thanks for all the input guys, I will go with the H&R springs after all. 17" wheels are on the way too, I'll be sure to post pics (in a different thread...)

Re: Dropping the ride...

So the drop went well this past Saturday. The ride looks CLEAN on the H&R Sports and 17's! I'll be sure to post pics when I get home from work today! Thanks for the input, guys!

Re: Dropping the ride...

Okay, here are some pics, before and after. BTW, I'm running 215/45/17's, stock shocks, and H&R Sport springs, for reference.

BEFORE:

4-finger gap

AFTER (This is 2 days after the drop):

Just barely lower than a 2-finger gap:

I don't know why the pics look so small, but you can still tell how much it dropped...Let me know what you guys think!

Re: Dropping the ride...

i'd go eibachs I don't have the sag in the rear with them and I keep a full size spare and a speaker box in it. Oh and i'm sitting on tokico hp's too. It's about a 2 finger gap all around.

Re: Dropping the ride...

Thanks, dj, I dropped it on the H&R's after all (see pics above), and I love it so far! I'll be upgrading to tokico hp's next year after I move into my new house!
