Re: Dropping the ride...

The ride looks great, man! Those "before" shots made me chuckle as they reminded me of how my Civic looked before the drop. I'm not sure how I ever went 2+ years on stock suspension! Keep up the good work...

P.S. - Congrats on the new house

Re: Dropping the ride...

Thanks! Yeah I didn't realize how bad it looked before the drop until the new springs were installed. It sits the way it should now!

Thanks, dude! The drop is right around an inch and a half and the car handles great! I'm not into auto-x or anything, just some 'spirited' street driving, so I didn't want anything extreme.

Re: Dropping the ride...

just dropped my ride as well, thanks to the DIY on the site. didnt run into too much trouble. springs still need to settle tho, its only been about 3 or 4 days. gosh im impatient..

nice pics tho man. mine looks like that right now, but then again its supposed to settle to a 2" drop all around, so im hoping it drops a little more.

Yeah, definitely major props to Mex for that DIY, it was a life saver! I was afraid to go lower than about 1.5" since there are some fvcked up driveways around North Texas, lol! Post some pics of your drop when it settles!

Re: Dropping the ride...

So we're about two weeks after the drop and I just got the car aligned and boy am I glad I did! The before/after alignment spec sheet was SCARY! Everything is pretty darn close to perfect specs now, and the ride is excellent!

I don't blame you, dude! Turns out, with zero camber in the rear on my setup I get a little rubbing on the passenger side rear when i take a hard left turn or go over a deep dip in the road. I'm looking into a DIY for rolling my fenders since I want to retain the zero camber setting and NOT have any tire rub (of course)... I found one on the Infiniti G37 forums that involves heating the fender with a heat gun or hair dryer and rolling the fender lip with a baseball bat or thick PVC pipe...might give it a shot here in a week or so.

Re: Dropping the ride...

I agree with Kev, I would think you have a blown strut. Or maybe that's what it sounds like when you hit the bump stop? IDK for sure though...

Does anyone have a setup similar to this? How do you like it? Having a fairly smooth ride is important to me as well, along with NOT scraping over speedbumps. No lip kits or anything either. If I don't go with the H&R Sports, I'll most likely go with Eibach Sportlines...your thoughts?
I've had Tokico with Eibach sportlines for now over a year and a half.
I live in NY, the roads are shit over here, plus the car was abused sometimes.
Also I have fairly heavy sub in my trunk.
So after a yeah and a half I have killed my control arms, the springs sagged, and lost about 1,5 additional inches or more.

The springs are so bad now that the rubber is completely mashed in the strut, but! surprisingly the strut survived. There is not leaks. Tokico struts are very good.
When they were brand new and just installed, the ride was very good, firm but not too rough.

As far as Eibach sportlines, I'd like them to be more lasting
