bushing replacement cost $250.00 ??

Hey guys, I haven't been on these forums in a long while!!

Anyway, good to see some of the old suspension guys are around.

I was one of the first people to get D2 racing coilovers. Now the rear bushings are ripped to hell and cause noise when I brake.

I got a quote from a local shop for $250.00 to replace the rear bushings. Theres only 2 of them, one on each shock bottom. The owner said the price is $250.00 because "Those little bushings are a pain in the *** to change."

Is this a fair price? Seems expensive to me to press two bushings in. Would I have better luck at Meineke or something?

we'll they're spherical bearings, they're gonna be a pain in the *** to change.... pushing steel through a hole smaller than the bearing isnt easy, but with a philosiphy like that, I'm thinkin that theres an inconvenience charge factored in.

Haha I definitely had the impression that there was a "inconvenience charge". The price is $250.00.

That will either:
A: Deter me from doing it.
B: Make it worth his frustration.

I wish i could do it myself
I may just save up for Tein Basic.

I remember changing out bearings on my rollerblades (haha) and they looked similar to that. There was a tool that I used that fit into the groove on the bearing and when you insert it correctly and push in with force the bearing popped out. But something tells me that that isn't like a rollerblade bearing lol. Either way that seems really high at $250, considering you already have the strut out and just need the bearing popped out. I'm pretty sure you could find a guy at Tire Kingdom or someplace that would do it if you toss him $40.

an experienced person can replace those bearings easily. One of the master techs at my shop has new bushings in and out of those things in about 20 minutes. I think you should keep shopping around for prices..

20 minutes eh? For how much $$$ though? If the price is right I will have to take a small road trip (I'm in Philadelphia) to Maryland.
