Tires and Ground Clearance?

I'm about to go for a 2inch drop for my 04 civic vp and first i just wanted to run a couple things by all the pro's. I'm gonna be running some 205/50/16 tires and was wondering if i will have any trouble with rubbing or anything. Also, if i dropped it two inces would i have enough ground clearance for honda to be able to get my car up on one of their lifts? Thanks for any comments

with a 2" drop you probably won't have enough clearance to drive up a ramp, but you might get on a lift, depending on how small the plates are. We really can't tell you if you will rub or not. You can alwasy roll your fenders and pull in your camber, but it is a guessing game for us too.

Its gonna fall farther because the tires are smaller than stock. 205/55 will run a little higher. Tires change your ground clearance, not the suspension height... and they're important for what will make the car clear and what wont. I really don't recommend going 2". It always ends up more... and your steering rack is going to be in trouble later on.

Thanks for the input you prove a really good point? How far do you think i should drop it in my case?

are you using coilovers or springs? i have 205/50/16 with a neuspeed sport drop and nothing rubs.

a 1.2-1.7" drop would be milded enough. sport stance.

what exactly are you trying to get from lowering your car though?

id also consider a rear camber kit and an alignment after. front camber isnt an issue on the em2/es1 (civic01+) maybe the ep3 (si hatch)

i actually needed a front camber kit cuz the mechanic couldnt get the camber right on the front right wheel.

i got an 04 coupe and im on goldline springs (1.75" drop which settled in at about 2") on 205/50/16 and on 195/60/15 i was still able to go up the ramp (barely, but made it) and lift (no prob)...u should be fine
