cut springs?

I know this has been discusted many times but this is different.

I was looking in the neuspeed web site and it says it is safe to cut the spring at the progressive part since it has no spring rate at all, its whole point is to determine ride height. (neuspeed sport btw)
I dont like the fact its 1.75 fr & 1.5

back so i wanted to trom the back spring to make them equal 1.75 all arround .. has anyone ever done it? any coments how to proceed. DIY would be nice

I know but the progressive part has no spring rate at all and they mention it being secure to cut it .. anyone has an idea?

i would leave them because the back settles a little lower than the front anyways. if you cut the back it would look like it is sagging.

ok change of senario ... lets say I wanted it to be a lil lower than 1.7" but I cant change my springs .. would you do it?

i would buy new springs. honda and other car and performance company pay engineers to design our springs. so cutting them to make them the way you want sounds good to me. i mean if it says you can do it then you can do it but you can also get some cheap fat boy pants and a rope and keep lettin the rope out every year. but that doesnt make it a good idea.

i would never cut a spring unless it is meant to be cut. but in that case if its meant to be cut, that tells me some sleazy man doesnt know how to make springs and thats a sign to stay away from.

i never heard of cutting neuspeed sport springs from anyone here ever since i joined this board. i would not cut them and let them settle as stated above.

I have the race springs and when i initially installed them the car was higher in back but now the back is actually a little lower than the front, wether that is the case with sport spings, i don't know.

But yeah, don't cut your rear springs until they are broken in, wait and see what your actual ride height is going to be.

i thought about this before too. i would do it, but cut 1 dead coil only because it has no purpose other then playing dead.

It's pretty safe to cut a dead coil off but make sure you don't cut too much off so the back end sags. I think the neuspeed drop is perfect, when the drop in the back is same in the front, the car always looks like it's sagging so reconsider your decision.

Like mentioned above, you might be able to cut a small amount off as long as you dont cut too much. Reason being is, if you cut to much off the spring can pop out of the perch if the suspension is ever fully extended. Personally, I'd never do it.
