I was thinking of lowering my car..but dont feel like spending a bundle on coilovers. if i get springs, ill have to get new shocks...but dont fell like spending 2-3 on new shocks and dont fell like blowing my stock shocks after a few months either. Is there anyway to fulfill my need of dropping my 04 civic? lol

okay, time to whore this thread....I kind of had the same issue like you. i wanted to drop but everyone was like no cuz the roads are bad but then i wanted a real cool look to my car but i didn,t want to bottom out and all that other crap! if you want to drop ur car, do it! yes there will be some new changes on how u drive but hell, i think it's fun and it looks hot as hell. now, i feel you on the whole i don't wanna spend X amount of money but guess what....what u spend is what u get! buy some springs and deal with feeling all the bumps(depending where u live) or go for the extra comfort and not to mention performance and buy some nice struts to go with ur springs. i went with eibach prokits that provide a 1.5 inch drop and to go with them some GPR-2 KYB's and you won't believe to beautiful ride i have!!!!!!!!! KYB's are a must if u wanna go with performance struts. the truth is, i want a bigger drop although the prokit did get rid of the wheel gap but for where i live which is NY, the prokits are nice. my ride is low and type stiff but at the same time i don't feel all the bumps when i go over them. i think it's kind of known that eibach and KYB's go together like ham and cheese. go for the drop but don't be cheap. u'll get what you pay for.

1) post in the right forum
2) you can lower with any spring you want but you run the risk of blowing your shocks, even with a 1" drop
3) Do it right or don't do it at all. Suspension keeps your car on the road and keeps you safe. You don't need to be driving 60 on the highway and have to swerve and find out your suspension can't handle it. It can become really unsafe driving on a lowered car with blown shocks.
4) Just because others have done it for 20k+ doesn't mean that your stock shocks will last that long. They can last 1 day or years. All it takes is either one pot hole or constant daily driving to wear them down.
5) Again, do it right or don't do it at all....

well with all that said go steal a modded 04 civic with the stuff you want and get the sh!t for free.
i say if your roads arn't too crazy and if your not going offroad and driving crazy you should be fine. I had my teins on for over 15k miles already and I live in san diego roads here and they are horrible when it rains. You should be fine.
