Since there's so many people with questions on how to adjust them i decided to write a breif diy.
1) Jack the car up and take off the wheels
2) Loosen the 3rd locknut by how much you want to lower the car by...(if you want to lower the car another .5" raise the locknut .5" higher.)
3) Now, Just remember your main goal is to turn the WHOLE strut and not just spin the springs or anything like that. You can turn it by
a) grabbing the threads itself and trying to spin it
b) grabbing the perch(aka the 1st and 2nd locknut) to try and spin it
c) grab the spring and try and spin it
d) grab all of the above... When you do any of this, you should also see the 3rd locknut spin as you turn. If it doesnt, it means your not spinning the WHOLE strut but rather just the springs or just the perch.
4) I found out if none works, easiest way is to do this... To lower/shorten:
Use the Spanner wrench provided and turn the 1st locknut clockwise
To raise/extend:
Use the Spanner wrench provided and turn the 2nd locknut counter-clockwise
If you do it the other way around, there's a chance your going to loosen the perch in the process. Also while your doing this Make sure the 3rd locknut spins as you turn
5) Keep spinning it untill you reach your desire height. If your lowering the car and followed instruction #2, the 3rd locknut should hit the bottom mount, making it a lot harder to spin. Thats when you reached your desire drop.
6)Tighten the 3rd locknut and put the wheels back on
Eh, maybe i'll explain preload later.. too lazy right now

IMO, I think you should change the title to how to adjust full coilovers, or how to adjust the 3 lock nut system, or how to adjust Hayame, JIC, Buddy Club, Zeal, etc full coilovers.
Good thread... should be stickied since Hayame's are cheap and a lot of people are probably gonna have them. Should warn them not to spin the rears down too tightly or they'll never get to raise the coilover if they do... and that would suck.
Does ne one knows how to adjust the camber angle on the front? my front wheels have a large camber angle rightnow and caused my tires to become BALD on one side in just one day.... i have steelies on now, hope one one can help me
should have gotten an alignment... its probably a combination of camber AND toe-in that caused your tire to wear out so fast. Same thing happened to me, the toe-in was really badd.
To adjust the camber, just loosen(not take out) both camber bolts. now you should be able to push the camber in/out. Once you think you got the right angle, tighten both bolts back up again. But ya just remember its recommended you get an alignment
Originally posted by robbclark1 Nope...JIC does not provide instructions
I don't know that I'd call them instructions... but they did give me a sheet that says how the height adjustment worked. There was also another one, but I forget what it explained. There weren't actual "instructions" per say.
im gonna have to take my front ones off from the control arm and the axle, cause i cant not turn that thing for the life of me, i got it about an 1/8 of an inch and thats it.
My TEIN SS didnt come with instructions as well. They only tell you how it works.
The TEIN SS is a rather simple setup, where instructions aren't really needed. For units with shock length adjustability, I think people buying them should know or be able to figure out how to install/propertly set them, otherwise why pay for that feature? I've seen a LOT of people purchasing the FLEX over the SS for the DC5 because people say it's better, however they set the ride height w/ the spring perches, thus losing stroke anyway
With that said, maybe companies should include instructions for proper install/setup...
