Weight of Stock and Aftermarket Wheels

We often see questions as to the weight of different wheels. Here is a link to a list that covers most OE and aftermarket wheel sizes and the weight in pounds of each.

Since I got inerested in wheels I have a question. If I buy Rota Slipstreams, do I need to buy new lugnuts and or center caps?

It depends on the wheels. I had to purchase new lug nuts for my Centerlines. I don't know anything about Rotas, but don't center caps usually come with the wheels.

I don't know if the slipstreams come with center caps but they did come with my subzeros. The subzeros also require a tuner style of lugnut. I would assume that the slipstreams do as well.

I bought them from Machiii through the Group Buy Center. I don't think anyone can beat their price, $450 shipped for 15x6.5 slipstreams or subzeros. However, it took 2 weeks and 1 day to receive my wheels from machiii. They said they were overloaded with orders and were running behind. Just something to think about. Modacar also sells them but their shipping is pretty high but I am on the other side of the country from them.

I bought the tuner lugs from the local import shop for $35. They came with 4 locking nuts as well.

I bought mine from a company. they have had a group buy on clubsi.com for awhile. the prices are the asme as machiii, but they include the lugs and stuff. you might want to check them out. i had no problem with them and got them in about a week.

Thanks for the info guys. I came into some cash this weekend, so maybe I'll order the wheels and have my friendly tire guy put them on. I'm due for an alignment check anyhow. I've seen some deals with tires included, but I'm pretty happy with the tires I already have.

I've still got that HP axle back muffler to put on too. Still debating about that. I'ts got a silencer so I may put it on at the tire shop. Just don't want it to be really loud.

Yep, everyone says they weigh 24lbs but I have always thought that was an inaccurate measurement. When I weighed my wheel and cap on the home scale, I got 21lbs.

NickDaMans02Civic:

Don't forget that the big tire that goes on that rim is going to weigh 20lbs at the minimum.
