check out the new rota 'attack' wheels

man ive been looking like crazy for a clean, 5-spoke design wheel. i considered the enkei rs5's and the rays' gram lights (same company that produces volk wheels) but these wheels from rota have got me hooked.

from what i've heard, these are cast and not forged... they are also extremely light and very cheap (bout 500 cheaper than the gram lights)

what do u guys think?

oh yeah, here are two threads from honda-tech re the rota's

Yep, I bought rota subs about a month ago in 15in. Now, they say the 15in attacks will weigh ~9-10lbs. I am frickken pissed! I am thinking about selling the subs and getting the attacks when the 15s are released. I don't particularly like the looks of the rim but since I have 15in rotas, it goes w/o saying that im not really into looks.

Anyhow, damn nice rim and the 17in weighs like 15.5lbs which is pretty darn good.

Seems like the 15x6.5 Attack is out already because there are vendors selling them on the groupbuycenter.
I really want to buy these wheels but I don't know if 9-10lb rims is a good idea for every day driving on streets with pot holes and many anomalies. My friend bought the SSR Competition 16" rims that weigh 10lbs and a month later he hit a small pot hole and one his rims is bent pretty badly. He still drives on them but it sucks he had to pay $1200 for these wheels! Unless a 9-10lb rim is forged aluminum I don't think it's strong enough for daily street driving.
I 'm very skeptical about buying these rims although I 'll probably do it. I have a feeling I 'm going to regret it though. I think these wheels were meant for competition only like for auto-x and road racing/track events.
I have the Kosei K1 15x7" on my GSR (12.98lbs when we weighed them), and they seem to be pretty good. I auto-x with them but I drive the car too on weekends. They 're holding up pretty good. I 'd like to get a ~12lb Rota but I don't really like any of the other Rota styles or they don't come in a 15" diameter. This is getting frustrating.
Does anyone have the Attack yet? BTW, what are some Rota vendors with good prices? Anyone seen the Attacks for less than $499 shipped?

I have the 15" rota subs and live in Charlotte, nc. I say charlotte because we have some really bad roads filled with potholes. I have the stock tire size and have hit many potholes. You can try to avoid them all you want but eventually, you are going to hit one. I haven't had any problems. Now, if you are going to put some low profile tires on them, I would say you're asking for trouble. I would go forged. I love the performance of the light-weight 15s but hate the look of the big tires.

Edit: Check out Machiii for the rotas. Nobody is going to beat there prices on these wheels. I don't know if they have the attack yet though. The Group Buy Center is really the best place to be checking them out.

Yep. Bronze 17's are yummy! Mmm... I love these rims. The only problem seems to be that some people report the paint flaking off of the wheels after some time. Until that happens they're perfect. After that starts to happen I would just remove them from the car. Remove the tires. Remove the rest of the paint. Then just get them powdercoated. Problem solved and you have a finish that's really durable. Plus a custom color! These are my new "I want!" rims.

Those look SWEET. Of course, now that these are in a group buy and the Magnaflow is back on, I'm totally out of cash. Grr.
