They might but if your thinking for our cars you really don't need that wide of a tire. A 215 is really as wide as you want. with not a lot of power you want to keep the rolling resistance as low as possible.
yes they will I ran 235/40ZR17 for 6 months, the car stuck great no push or anything it was great but then I sold the car
No, my car came with 185/65R15 which are 24.46 in. tall and the 235/40ZR17 are 24.40 in. tall a difference of .27%, However your 225/40ZR17 are 24.08 in. tall a difference of 1.57% so if you compare numbers my 235's will be closer to being right on the speedometer that the 225's
Your choice is your choice but seriously (just being constructive) you don't need that big a tire man. It's a waste, big time. Handling is more your suspension and how it's tuned than wide tires. If it's just for looks that's different.
yes, your right suspension is a very big part of handling, but if your tires are little narrow, hard as a rock tires your car still wont handle. My car had very good suspension and wide sticky tires so it handled very very well.
A 215 on a 7 1/2" rim IMO doesnt look right. It stretches the tire out too much, saying this because the rims I want only come in 17X7 1/2.
What size rims are you running. And please let me know if it works.
