Brake-pad brands?

sup guys? are there any specific brands of brake pads that you guys would reccommend? *for front discs brakes* doing front brakes in a few days and just wanted so info/feed-back about it ~Mike D~

I bought Hawk pads based on tests by Car and Driver. They tested several aftermarket brake kits on a WRX. They also tested with stock rotors and calipers, but with Hawk pads. Even by upgrading only the pads, the WRX showed dramatic improvements in fade and stopping distances.

I only tried Hawk and Honda OEM. I tried the HPS pads and just recently downgraded to Hawk Performance Ceramic pads for less dust. With the Brembo blanks, the Hawks felt firmer, seemed to stop better, and is able to withstand heat better from repeated use. With the stock setup, the brakes warped every 15k or so, but with the Hawk/Brembo setup, the brakes didn't warp until the end of the pads life - around 50k miles of use.

Hawk, Axxis, EBC, AEM and Honda

Forget EBC and Honda, pick from the other 3

if you know how to use the brakes properly (ie no hard braking, braking over 40mph, etc) stick with oem. they only warp because of the way you drive. or if you need to stop alot at hi speeds, you're just gonna have to stick with a different pad.

i had oem, pbr (axxis) metal master, and now hawk HPS. Hawk HPS so far offer the least dust and the best stopping power, imo.

Any others.....I plan on doing my break also within a month or two...whenever spring break is.

Does anyone know any "super duper" deals on brake pads I know I've searched a bit and Hawks are approx. like 70 bucks w/o shipping.

Thats what Hawks cost. They're just not cheap.
Axxis pads are about 47. I've had mixed results with them, but I continue to use them anyways (mostly because the last set I just got was included with my ITR swap)

sounds cool. but you can't knock a guy for trying to find the best possible deal, especially for a poor student.

despite the cost, I'll most likely get the hawks... ::

Most of the time it is not that rotor warping, it is uneven pad deposits being left on the rotor. That is why more aggressive pads never have that problem, because they wear out both rotor and pads quicker, scraping off the residue.

Hawk HPS for the street, HP+ or HT10's for track.

for streets i'd go with either axxis/pbr metal masters or Hawk HPS, but i'm using HPS and i really would like more for track. for maximum stopping power Axxis Ultimate or Project Mu, but rotors will have to be replaced more often and girls will run away. but i'd go with the axxis/pbr just cuz i can get a pair of Metal Masters for 22, ULT's for 30, but for Front and my rear disks 55 for MM 60 bux for Ults.
