got the brembos and hawks installed but

they are making a light screeching noise when braking...and smoking when i come to a complete stop. the car stops fine (for brakes that haven't been broken in completely), but the sound sort of worries me. for the time being i will be driving under the speed limit.

any thoughts on what could be wrong? or right?

Hawk HPS pads, Brembo blank rotors.

I have the same pads. The first 20 stops where noisy.
Now they are quiet like stock. And it's normal at first that
they smoked a little. I did not see any smoke because it
was the night but I can tell you that it was stinking the
smoke... Hope that you understand my accent...

You just need to bed in the pads..

HAWK

After installing new pads make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 35 mph with moderate pressure. Make an additional two to three hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph. Do not allow the vehicle to come to a complete stop.

Hmm...alright I just got home through all of the rush hour traffic, so that should be good for the bedding in process, correct? I mean I made at LEAST 10 stops from 30mph and at LEAST 5 stops from 45mph.

umm, did anyone mention that pads are easy to break in but if you dont break in rotors = screwed!!! Make sure all your stops never drag the brakes for the 1st 250-350 miles. Brembo discs say 400 but its ok. Make all your stops like push firm, heat up heat up, and then let off to let the metal cool down. If you hold your brakes slowly while coming to a stop = warpage fast. The discs need time so be gentle. NEVER SLAM HARD ON EM at first. I have hawk pads and blanks and mine smoked at first. Ah if you didnt change your fuid do so, my fluid would smoke at times.

Edward

Just a lovely tip from you happy vendor

Brake fluid is contained within a sealed system (Hydraulic systems allways are) So, you can boil brake fluid if you get it too hot, but it will not smoke. the only place the brake system isnt sealed (So it would be the only place it could smoke from) would be the reservoir... and if your getting the fluid hot there.... Then you have a serious braking problem...

My new brembos & hawk pads work great, and I thought I did break them in right. Hoever, right before I come to a complete stop, like the last few inches before wheels stop, the breaks make a creaking sound. Is this the sound of disk warpage? Any fix for this? Thanks.

I have this same setup, as i come to a complete stop it would make a sound like a squeaky wheel. Before i had them installed i did get into an accident, i was driving a little too fast while making a left turn, and i spun out-hitting my entire driver side, but only the wheels got damaged, the body is still ok.
I had a friend of my dad fix it, it drives ok but it's not quite right-when i'm turing right it kinda has a hard time but going left is perfecetly normal.
The tech didn't exactly tell me what was damaged, cuz we have somewhat of a langauage barrier, but he did show me the parts he replaced.

Did you get an alignment after the repair? Otherwise you may have a bent/dammaged steering rack.
