Perfect Tire for my new Rims?

I know this has been asked before but I wanted to get another opinoin before I go ahead and by the tires for my new rims. I just bought a set of 17" Motegi FF6 rims in gun metal with the polished lip. And they are going on my 01 silver vic coupe. I will get pictures up soon in the my ride section.

Question is, what is they best size tire to go for with these rims. I may be dropping the car soon, not too much though because the streets suck here in philly. But what will look/ride/wear the best for 17" rims.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

cool, I have found that a lot of people have this size. Whats the difference between 215-45-17 and 205-40-17? I am guessing that the 215-45-17 are a little larger. What looks better and what will perform better. Thanks

215/45 will be wider with a taller sidewall, and i've also heard that a 205/40 will throw off your speedo.. I'm pretty sure if i get 17s im going with 215/45.

45's...more sidewall = better handling. 40's = slip and slide.

The 40's will give you a lower profile. I'd go with the 45's.

ncirom2003 will become famous soon enough
215= width cannot change unless you change rim 205=6.5 inch wide 215= 7 inch 225= 7.5 inch wide
40 has nothing to do with width other than it is a ratio of height to width the higher the number the taller meanin more room for sidewall to move so the 40 would perform better and with 215/40/17 i looked online and it only throws off our speedo 1.95 % so at 100 on ur speedo ur doin 98.o5 mph
