Seeking advice on building my '00 Si from EXPERIENCED tuners please

Honda Civic Si and Honda Civic SiR The Honda Civic Sport Package, better known as the Honda Civic Si is a great base vehicle to start a project. Upgraded components on the Honda Civic Si gave this car a advantage from the start. The Honda Civic SiR is the Canadian version for the Si.

Seeking advice on building my '00 Si from EXPERIENCED tuners please

I want the illest Si on the east coast. (There are about 4 others within 100 miles of me).

I am hoping some of you experienced tuners can help me here, I have always loved driving fast cars, but until recently I never really understood what goes on under the hood. I've toyed around with my past two mustangs, but since I hopped into my honda I have fallen in love with the import tuner scene and I will never look back, (not to say I wont ever buy another 8 cylinder that goes VROOM without a custom exhaust).

Before I say anything let me say that the car is a daily driver, and I want to seriously hook it up over the next year; incidentally I also want it to be durable and last a long time. I mostly want to have the ability to burn 8 cylinders from light to light, but I do street race on occasion and I also want it to handle well without being totally slammed to the ground.

Ok I dont have 50 grand to spend, but I can start with around 6-10 grand and I already have custom exhaust, (dont worry, it's not one of those high pitched, rediculously loud ones), headers, and short ram, and my intake manifold goes on today.

So now that I have given the engine room to breathe, here is my first dillema:

K20 swap or full rebuild on my B16 ? (No thanks to the GSR)

I kindof want to bore out the B16 (67k miles) and drop forged rods/pistons yada yada turbocharger (no rediculous boost unless I am at the track, and yes I know it has it's own intake, the short ram was just something to do) and I really dont want to mess with my vtec range until I am ready to get a new tach (can you dig?)

*** I have been reading alot into this, in case you were wondering.

I know that the k20 will give me more horses to mess with, (I think remember the torque was about the same) but I also know that for the cost of the swap I can get about halfway into turning my b16 into a 400+ hp monster. I also hear that the k20 block and mount is somewhat restrictive as far as underhood space is concerned. Any advice greatly apreciated on this matter.

Here is my second and BIGGEST dillema:

TORQUE Oh my G*D I keep seeing all these tuned Si's in mags and on the internet and they all have like 250 + horses and *** for torque. What is it, Hondas max out at 200 pounds of torque or something? I'm not trying to spend thousands of dollars just to barely keep up with a stock 3 series in the acceleration department. What are the best ways to increase torque along with horses, and in the name of all that is Honda please don't tell me to swap a TL engine into this thing. The biggest point in me getting this car was to have a 4 cylinder sleeper with relatively mild exhaust that can embarrass $30k + sportsters off the line.

Ok, and my third question is on parts quality. I know that it's generally true that you get what you pay for, but is there that much of a difference between the $400 dollar suspension package and the $1500+ one? As in, should I be patient and wait till I can afford full race upgrade for my clutch, suspension, etc.

Speaking of suspension, I am still trying to understand the difference between cambers, struts, coilovers, etc, so I guess technically 4 questions that I pose.

And yes, although this is a daily driver, I will be heading to the track at least on a bi-monthly basis.

Thanks SOOOO much in advance, and btw I love Honda. Death to all Cobalt SS drivers !!
