I'm guessing you mean 25 mpg not 250mpg, how do you check your milage? Do you fill it up everytime and divide the gallon amount of fuel purchased in to the amount of miles form the last fill up? Also if you drive the car hard, and in the city, your milage will drop.

You have to fill the car up evrytime to get a accurate MPG reading, and you need to do this 5 or 6 times then divide the total milage by the total gallons of fuel to get a decent average. I do this everytime and find I average 32 mpg overall but I've seen my mpg as high as 40 and as low as 27. Plus a automatic will always get less MPG's than a Manual.

Check tire pressure. Do you use the AC? Do you do mostly CITY driving? Easy on the gas....no climbing past 4000rpm.

I also agree that you need to use the pump #'s dont just divide the miles by the tank size.

Also what other stuff do you have on the car, with my roof rack, big rims, and an Intake in the summer (with a/c) my car also drops to around 25MPG average. Rip all that stuff off and I'm back in the 30's.

If you don't have any mod, maybe it is time to replace the air filter?

Well, i heard people say, it uses more gas to ride with your windows down than run you AC past 35 MPH cause of the wind drag, i dont know if thats true, just heard it ALOT and on the news and stuff.

LIke the other people said, are you sure yo're dividing the 25 miles by the pump numbers, not the rated 12 gallons? do not divide by 12, divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons you pump

things to check:

tire pressure
air filter
plugs

the a/c doesnt really effect that much of the usage

I've tested that whole AC/Window drag talk for a few months now.

360-380 miles with windows down (even on freeways) and moderate acceleration (up to 4000rpm)

330-340 miles with AC most of the time and moderate acceleration.

So it's true...AC does decrease MPG by about 10%.

I still use the AC from time to time because we can all afford a 30mile loss...that's just 1 gallon in our civics.

edit: Maybe your engine was not properly broken-in.

Yeah i get crap for gas mileage too. Usually between 25-27 mpg. It sux, plus im about to put on 17's so im scared its going to go lower.
I barely ever use the A/C, i do have an intake SRI, automatic, dont drive it very hard, always let it warm up before gassing it too hard....

I have a 2001 LX auto, stock, with ~52,000 miles on it. Used to get 26-28 mpg, changed air filter at 50,000 miles, was really gross and had bunch of black crap and leafs on it, now i get 31 - 33 mpg. i never did the 30,000 mile tune up since it was like $300. this is all with city driving.
