honda alarm

I have the factory honda alarm and I was wondering if anyone who does have it can put there alarm on a "silent mode" where it doesn't honk every time you turn on or off the alarm. The horn is getting rally annoying To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

yes. There is a small round button a little bit above where you pull your hood. Press and hold on the button for 5 seconds and you will hear 2 honks and your flashing red alarm light will be lit steady. To reset, follow the above instructions again to reset to deafult. Keep in mind that if your car ever gets broken into, your alarm will not sound cause you have disabled the honk. All you see is flashing lights and no honking.

Well, you do this only when you wanna disable the entire alarm system, not just the horn.

The only reason I got a factory alarm was because no wire cutting/stripping would have to be done. And ditto to the push twice to honk thing.

On another note, txtadik, your avatar is disturbing...

what honda gives you is ussually a standard keyless entry system. It is not an alarm. When you press the button twice, it is just a confirmation chirp telling you that your doors are locked. If you still think your keyless entry system is an alarm, try kick your tire and see does it go off.. or even better yet, sit in your car, "ARM" your keyless entry, and then open your door by unlocking it manually.

my point that it isnt an ALARM! it is a keyless entry system! if you find the button to disable the honks, it will still function exactly the same.. except the honking!

Just as VTECTypeR said, honda does offer the alarm with the keyless entry which is a little bit more. I have it, IT IS MORE THAN JUST A KEYLESS ENTRY, that is if you got it. Just cause it doesn't go off when you kick the tire doesn't mean its not an alarm, it just means it doesn't have a motion sensor. It does have a 30 second cut off to the ignition system.

On mine, when i press lock once it chirps, if i press it again within 3 seconds it honks. This alarm on my car is all crazy. If i press lock twice within 3 seconds, it will no longer chirp when i lock it. Its kinda like pressing that button by the trunk release which also does the same thing. I've read the manual on the alarm and it doesn't work exactly how they say. One way to reset to change different modes is to hold the drivers door open while you press the lock button 3 times and then get in, close the door, and start the car up. Its all messed up. I have an 01 EX and it seems my alarm is a bit different than your setup.

i know exactly what you are talking about, it is called a Keyless Entry Controlled alarm. Basicly an alarm which uses your Lock and Unlock signal from your keyless entry and uses as a Arm and Disarm for the brain. However, this is an alarm system. Most standard Alarm systems, including the Keyless Entry Controlled alarm, Do not have the "motion sensor". They have Shock Sensors, ie when some1 kicks your tire or kicks your car anywhere, it will go off. What we are talking about here is the confirmation horn sounds that lets us know if the car doors are locked or unlocked. You, on the otherhand is talking about an Keyless Entry Controlled Alarm. Totally differant. You have the added option, they dont. Simple as that. Anyways, here are the specs for a DEI product named Hornet if any1 is interested. Dealers use the same alarm, but DEI differentiates their products by changing the name to Automate. By doing so, their car dealers can exclusively sell the brand Automate making seem like it is a Dealer Item. It is all economics and marketing...

Hornet 700T
700T Security System links to your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) remotes! Don't throw away your factory remotes! Add on to your factory system with the Hornet 700T. Upgrade your factory remote control keyless entry system with Hornet convenience and security features while still utilizing your factory transmitters. The 700T comes with:

Status LED
Parking light flash
Access sensors
Panic Mode
Stinger DoubleGuard Shock Sensor with Warn Away
Remote Valet
Revenger® six-tone siren
Delayed accessory output

Ebay ussually has these Keyless Entry COntrolled Alarms. Try searching Automate, Auto mate, and Keyless Upgrade.

could someone please tell me where my silent button would be? I drive a 01 civic coupe EX, someone on here said the button is located just above the hood popper but I checked everywhere and found nothing but the little storage compartment, somehow I put it on silent mode and now I have no idea how to take it off.. can someone help please?

yeah tried that.. nothing happened, I remember sometimes when I tried to set the alarm with trunk open it gave me like 3 quick beeps, like I did something, but it never disabled my alarm like this.. I really would hate to take it to the shop just for something I can probably fix myself
