When A Broken CV Joint would be fun!! I need help:(
So the car's at the dealer tonight.....I'm supposed to leave back for school tomorrow...horrible day. When the car is cold, and I turn left, I hear a HORRIBLE sound, let's say a broken CV boot would be great to hear instead of this. Its a groaning combined w/ a hard knock, but only when turning left. Anyone else have this crap happen to them? I'm worried that it can't be fixed and I'll have to drive 5 hours with it, and I'm sort of fearing my safety. Anyone have advice???

That same kinda noise when only turning left happened to my mom's old toyota.
It turned out that her suspension was blown...... that prolly doesn't help too much
but uh... yeah.
a torn CV boot wont make any noise. its probably that your boot has been torn for so long, crap has gotten into your left CV joint and jacked it up. Time to replace.

Thanks for the replies. I have an update on the situation, finally. I took the car to two places, a honda specialty shop, and the dealer. Both could not duplicate the noise, it disappeared. Both places did a visual inspection, and the specialty shop tested the car w/ me driving it, then them, and did the inspection while I watched ( ilove those guys!) and we had a talk about safety. They said everything looked great and it should be fine to drive, as long as I don't hear it again, which I haven't... But I am thinking more and more about what you said, Joe. The CV boot could be torn, but if something was in there making noise, could it dislodge and come out, causing the noise to disappear temporarily?
perhaps. more likely is that whatever went in there ground down some teeth in the joint, therefore it will only make the noise when those specific teeth try to fit together (ie not all the time). Jack your car up and LOOK at the CV boots. if they are torn, 99% chance thats your problem.
