If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Lights flashing among other things

I forgot to post the pic from the last loose alternator and ruined PCM job we had in the shop.....This one came in with no power, lots of warning lights, wouldn't shift.......we found the big bolt loose and backed out of the bracket, stripped the threads on the bracket. You can see the HUGE wear spots on the bolt, it was worn so bad the alternator was sitting crooked and had broken the lower bracket too.

That's crazy! Do you think they forgot about tightening that bolt when installing the previous alternator or was it still the factory alternator?

Re: Lights flashing among other things

It was the result of a hack mechanic doing (butchering) a simple timing belt job. The driver saved a few bucks going to that guy, I'm sure....

The bill to fix the damage was more than the timing belt job would have been in our (dealership) shop. It might have been more than the car was worth.
