Rep Power: 178 Aftermarket Door Locks
2003 Civic LX Coupe here, bought used. It was broken into before I bought it. The driver's side lock has never worked. I tried to fix it a couple times and feel that the sidewinder lock design is mediocre. The Civic has an aftermarket keyless entry system that seems fine. My driver's side door lock actuator failed the other day, and I am replacing it soon. At the same time, I am thinking of replacing the door lock cylinder. What are the pros and cons of getting an aftermarket set of door lock cylinders, like the one shown here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Door-Lock-Cy...hXWI5o&vxp=mtr
I am ready to live with two keys for my Civic: One for the two doors, and one for the ignition and trunk.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Aftermarket Door Locks
I retumble them with new wafers, or if the slug is shot I can grab a new one from the big tumbler and lock kit and build a fresh one.
If the key is badly worn, it can and will tear up even brand new tumbler wafers.
The lock kit pictured in the link is not a sidewinder style......I've seen this in the past, I believe it is shorter than the sidewinder lock and may not fit in the door correctly. Not 100% positive on that though.
The correct drivers door lock with keys for your car seems like $25.xx....from an internet wholesale dealer....(not including shipping)

^Maybe that will link correctly^
