transmission question

copper tube coming straight up from transmssion. anybody know what this is. I can't find a hose to hook onto it (after doing clutch) . thanks

Probably the vent tube, and you knocked the cap/cover off of it somewhere.

The tube has to be open so the trans can breathe inside, if you block it off it will force fluid to leak out. It also has to be somewhat covered and protected so dirt and crap can't get inside it.



Found a pic of the vent tube cap on some sort of automatic trans here so you know what to look for. This is very close to what yours should have on it.
