Rep Power: 0 Intermittent starting issues 2006 civic..
Hello,
My 2006 Ex Civic has been having starting issues. I was having problems where the starter was a little sluggish when it first started turning.. Then it would not work at all. Then it might click like the battery was dead, and then it would start.
I have 238k miles on the car so I thought I would change the starter. Got one from Advance auto and boy what a pain to put in... May have cross threaded that top bolt, took me 30 minutes to find some thread, drove it home anyway... Got it in. Everything was great for a couple of days. Starts were crisp and fast. The new starter is turning faster...
Yesterday I got in the car, turned the key, nothing... Turned the key a few more times and then it started. Same thing happened again later in the day. This morning initially nothing... Two more attempts and it started.
Is my ignition switch shot? Is there some relay that fails? Park switch?
I figure replacing the starter was not that bad of a task... Preventive maintenance... Or, could the new starter be bad? I hate intermittent problems... I wish it would just fail so I could find the problem!!
Any suggestions welcome.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
