Hi guys Im new here and would like your guys assistance. Im looking at fixing a 2001 honda civic ex 4 door that was in an accident, my friend will give it to me for a couple hundred bucks. The person driving it was hit direct head on the drivers side rear door, while that happened the wheel was pushed towards the trunk. snapped the rod that goes through the bushing on the front part of the rear lower control arm, this caused the bolts that it mount to to bend and kind of messed up the metal around where the mount screw is, I want to know if i can fix that? I think the subframe is ok as it looked like wheel was just pushed backwards, the part of the lower control arm that connects to the subframe is slightly bent backwards, didnt look like it tweaked the subframe.Im going to attach some pictures. I know a bunch about car and have done some pretty serious work before and have a bunch of tools just no welder or air compressor. Im kind of looking to make this car driveable for around 800 bucks, so car cost is $200-$300.If this isnt feasable im looking at fixer uppers for around $800. The rest of the car is great, has around 100k miles and timing belt and whatnot was just done a week before the accident.

did the insurance company write this car off?
if not, why arnt they paying for it?
from what i see this is not a DIY job for an amateur,
an estimate off the top of my head wold be around 4-5G's to have that car fixed PROPERLY

if she is not going to be driving anymore, why wouldn't she let the insurance company repair the car and then cancel the policy after the car was fixed?

HHHMMMMMM thats a good question and i actually dont know why. Maybe they just dont want to deal with it and/or they know i need another car as mine needs inspection stuff done to be registerable.

Could be that she only had liability insurance due to the age of the car. My guess is will require time on a rack to straighten the frame. I have no idea how much time or money that will be but my guess is it will be over what you want to spend.

on a 2001 with that kind of damage.! definatly NOT worth investing
a couple of gino"s to fix it. why? because at the end of the day its
still an old 2001 civic.

I think the most delicate portion will be welding/repairing that part where the rear suspension will mount. Then afterwards to check if the chassis is straight in case some ill effect detected after repair...
other than that, suspension parts. repairing the rear quarter is always trick.

That car was hit hard...
Even if you had the right equipment I am not sure there w.ouldn't be more underlying damage. If and only If you choose to fix it I'd pay a body shop to weld and align the control arm mount. Even if you had the tools the skill to do that take years of experience to master and when it comes to something that keeps the car on the road it isn't a simple job it's a matter of safety
