Sway Bar end links - time to change?

Everytime I take an exit (I meant a steep right turn), the car kinda feels like running on a series of speed brakers on the passenger side.

Even the smallest of potholes, sounds cruel!
Noise is really stupid, feels as if there ain't any shocks at all on the car.

Took it to a mechanic (pepboys) to get it checked, was told the sway bar end links needs to be replaced.

Is that so???? Appreciate your input. Thanks.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Your mechanic should be able to demonstrate why the links need replaced.
Struts can also get noisy, but links are cheap and (somewhat) easy so if they are bad then do them first and see what happens.

I would unhook the links from the LCA and see if the noise goes away if you did it yourself. Pepboys will charge you for that at which point you should replace them since they are cheap and easy to get too.

I would check struts and mounts as well.

Re: Sway Bar end links - time to change?

indeed they are !

Replaced the links last night & the car now drives much better.

For those replacing links for the first time - Mine are 165k miles old & its obvious the nuts are gonna be really tough. I couldnt get them out straight, so I broke the old links down to the metal (ball), held one end with a pipe wrench & twisted the nut. Propane Gas, Saw cut, Nut Splitter - None worked (not enough room to work there). To figure this way, i spent nearly 3 hours on the first & second was under 30 mins. Hopefully this will help someone who ran into the same issue... Cheers !
