Rep Power: 0 Power lock (driver's side/2002 coupe) not working -- help please
Hello, folks. I looked at about 6 other threads (the only ones that showed up when I searched) and still have some questions.
Basically, my power lock on the driver's side of my 2002 EM2 suddenly stopped working. It's a coupe. The passenger door lock works fine with the driver side power lock switch (and my car alarm fob). I can physically push the lock in and out.
What is the next step in evaluation?
- Listen to hear if the door lock is slightly moving or making a switching sound when I use the door lock button? That would indicate that it's a mechanical issue (e.g. actuator malfunction/stuck) rather than electrical?
- If there is a sound, then take off the door panel and replace the actuator?
- Anything else I should do/look for?
Thanks!

rip the door panel off,
use a voltmeter,
check for voltage at the actuators electrical connector when you activate the locks,
voltage present = replace actuator
no voltage = switch or wiring issue
