Cannot get new lower arm on!!!! please help

Hi everyone,

I am having major problems getting my new lower suspension arm on, Im just not able to attach it to the ball joint.

I have had a mechanic come round to have a look and he was not able to do it either, thinks that maybe the ball joint is broken and wont flex enough towards the arm.

Does anyone know why this may be, had similar issues, or know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

My guess: The axle has been overextended, the inner CV joint came out of its cup and a roller or two are now out of place, and the CV joint can't "plunge" into its cup now?

Other thought: Was the ball joint replaced?

Do you know how i can go about fixing this?
I'd peel the boot off and reassemble the joint. But that's me, I don't want to buy an axle.

No, the ball joint was not replaced.

Do you think someone with limited knowledge like myself would be able to do this?

No, the ball joint was not replaced.
So logically, the ball joint should not be the problem here.

I'd peel the boot off and reassemble the joint. But that's me, I don't want to buy an axle.
Not thinking this AM..... First I'd try to manipulate the joint back together while it's all in place on the car... Taking it all apart would come after that.

Ok thank you so much for the advice, I will try that. Im guessing I just need to twist and push it around a bit to see if it will go in further?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question

Understanding how it's built inside before you begin might be a big help.

Hi thanks,

I have tried twisting it about and pushing it in ect, but no luck in getting the lower arm in still.. I have booked in for a mechanic to come and inspect it on Friday..

Does anyone have any other suggestions about what could be wrong?
