Rep Power: 0 intermittent crank but no start
I just bought an '04 Civic LX yesterday and it started fine every time until this evening. Then it cranked fine, headlights bright on testing, but wouldn't fire on several attempts. I thought I smelled gas a bit after cranking it so we let it sit.
I came back an hour later and it fired right up--green key showed on dash constant then went off. My son was trying to start it before so I don't know if a flashing key was showing. I only have one key.
What would cause an intermittent crank but no start?
Thank you
Jim

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: intermittent crank but no start
Smells gas? Plugs wet when it doesn't start?
Hold the gas pedal to the floor when it does this,...does that get it to fire up?
I'd plug in a scanner to see what the coolant temp reads when it doesn't start. If it's way lower than actual coolant temp, that's probably why it's flooding.
