Rep Power: 0 PLEASE HELP - honda civic 2002 si
im new to cars and to this forum, so please go easy...
i got a honda civic about a 1 1/2 months ago
i just rechecked all my fluid.
i noticed that my oil is really low, close to none... i checked under the car (cause its been sitting in my garage for 3 days) and i see no leaks.
does oil just get used up that quickly?
do i need an oil change or do i just need to put more oil in it..
what kind of oil is best to use for an 02 civic si?
side note: ive been using 91 gas on my car... is that alright?
thank you

Not sure about the extra threads and I'm not an expert but to my way of thinking the oil only has so many places to go:
1) You say "no leaks". Did you get under the car and look at the engine in detail? If you see oil around it at all then you should clean it off with solvent/rag really good, drive for a day, and then reinspect. It could be coming from under the filter (if it's not tight enough), bolts on the oil pan, oil pan gasket, or the front or rear seals (these can leak a lot when driving). Check the cam cover plate also (even though it usually wouldn't leak that much).
2) Burning it up - means your engine needs to be rebuilt. Do you see blue smoke out of the back of your car? Park it rev it up and have a friend check it out or follow you while driving. Put your hand over the exhaust (don't touch it, it's hot)...any black stuff on your hand? Do a compression test - tons of information online (here's a tip, don't rent the tool, they suck especially for a big decision like a rebuild). Do a leak down test.
Try those and see where you get - at least that's what I'd try. You said rechecked so the assumption is that it was correct at one point in time (1.5 months ago).

First question. I feel like you're just looking down the oil cap hole into the crankcase and saying "uh oh....theres no oil" haha kidding...but seriously you're measuring using the dipstick right?
