Advice on Spark Plugs for the D17A2

Just wondering if you folks can share you thoughts. I just purchased a set of NGK ZFR6FIX-11 Iridium IX and will be installing them in the next week.

I was thinking that I probably should have asked for advice before hand, but this thread might help someone down the line.

Make sure they're properly gapped before you put them in.

Those are the same plugs I have and they perform excellent. Did you have a specific question on them or just want to if they're generally good plugs?

I like them. 100K plugs are nice. Just have to pull them once a year to check the condition and gap.

100k for iridium? more like 30k tops even denso recommends this for their iridium. platinum is the plug with longer life.

the laser iridium can go up to 100k, but not iridium ix. the laser iridium has a platinum ground, ix doesn't. (unfortunately the laser iridium doesn't come in a config for our civics).

if you do gap the iridium plug (which no manufacturer I know of recommends doing) be extra careful with the iridium tip...

Because not all civics have the same engine. There might be better plug options for different engines, and sometimes people outside of Canada get confused when you talk about an Si Coupe. I stated the engine to get the most precise answer.

And in case someone down the line want to do a search on the topic, chances are the specs will provide a good hit and help them out.

That's WTF yo.

Re: Advice on Spark Plugs for the D17A2

pheeew, took my breath, solved a small detonation trouble, and back to do what need to be done.
Check list:
- not out of place
- no big troubles in the thread
- was trying to give more info
was just hard to understand, is all.

So, apologies - have been a hectic day since yesterday with several misplaced threads and 2 guys in a row reviving 2008 dated threads for nothing.
I had me head hot, so apologies again.

Re: Advice on Spark Plugs for the D17A2

Anyone out there have experience with the Bosch Platinum Fusion? p/n 4501? The four electrodes look pretty mean, don't know how they would perform though. It looks hella hot.

Nah, you're looking at the wrong plug. That's a laser platinum (a very good plug, will give you very long life).

Iridium IX = Iridium Tip, Nickel Ground
Laser Platinum = Platinum Tip, Platinum Ground
Laser Iridium = Iridium Tip, Platinum Ground

The "Laser" series will give you the longest life, and the Iridium version is the highest performing. I've only ever used NGK plugs in my cars, and have been happy with them, so I can't comment on anything else.
