well that would be a pretty good trick since all the problems with my car were there when I picked up the car from the dealership.

please explain...vague and general. Do you mean to tell me that the CIVIC has emotions and feelings like umm, regular people? WOW!

BTW- Don't ever make assumptions about people without knowing them.

My Awesome MODS:

Knocking suspension.
faulty car horn.
rattles everywhere.
repaired CD storage door
Faulty air bag sensors
Auto shifter button that sticks
Peeling and chipping paint
More to come....!

You seem to be very ver nit picky. If the seat rocks and slides, get it fixed. Its not gonna cost you anything. So whats you problem?? Rattles everywhere?? Give me a break, every car rattles. My civic rattles..... You know what I do, ignore it or find a way to fix it yourself. CD storage door repaired, OH MY, thats such a terrible thing to happen!!!!
As for the rest of your problems, you got a point.
But let me ask you a question, does you civic get you from point A to point B??? I bet it does. And it to where you want to be with great fuel economy.
I would talk to me about Honda being Sh$t. My dad HAD a chrysler Sebring a few years ago. That car's transmission broke a month after he bought it. Now thats bad. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.........remember that.
Im sure you will respond and be all bitter, but its ok. Everyone is intitled to there own opinion.

HHH

nycivic: I see you complain about your problems a lot here, but up until this point, I still didn't really know what they were until I saw your list now.

The only real problems I see are the knocking suspension and the air bag sensors. But lots of other people have had these problems and got them fixed. I had a leaking strut fixed recently, and tomorrow, they're going to take care of my rocking seat back. Not a big deal. What's the story with your dealer?

You know, compared to 2cute, your problems are quite minor. She can build quite a case for a lawsuit... I'm not too sure about your case though.

Everyone must come to the simple realization of this fact:

EVERY car is different... just like human beings because on the inside they're so complex... and not everything is always top-notch.

Honda is known for making some of the best cars in terms of build quality, but that doesn't mean there's not going to be a bad apple out of ALL the cars they make. If they were car gods, then we'd have no issues and everyone would be driving one, right? Well, just like Bluebirdz22 here's another person who would rather not drive a Honda or the particular one he put his money into. It's disappointing knowing you put so much money into a new machine and expect it to work properly and it ends up not working as well.

Your car will treat you well if it treats you well back, but not all were meant to treat you well as they are supposed to. For the people who are bestowed this disappointment from such a car maker you can have high expectations about... what can I say? I'm sorry. My 2k2 isn't even problem-free and I'm fortunate to have received a car that still rates as a great use of transportation, but believe me... it can be ANYONE who's given a bad apple since they're still sold at dealers. I've realized that it's not always easy to get rid of the lemon Honda they have or at least get it fixed.

I can also agree that the new Civic's reliability status is falling compared to the older gen Civics, and I'm sure the majority of us who find that this is true will ask the question, "What's up with Honda lately?" For their signature car, the Civic doesn't seem to live up to what it's famous for being since it's initial debut. With that, some can agree, and some can disagree depending on what they've been given by a Honda dealership.

Realize the truth that even a Honda can be created as a low-level POS. But Honda is just like any other car maker that can make lemons...

My apologies go to 2cute for acting like an ass when she complained about her Civic... because I've realize it's not always easy dealing with or replacing a lemon. I've kept an eye on the issues people have had with their car (including hers) and it shocked me at first, but not anymore it does... so you have my sympathy - and support!

brill is just really nice brill is just really nice brill is just really nice brill is just really nice
y'know... every car has problems... half the reason i decided to buy new was because of warranty... the other half is because I can treat the car nicely from the day it rolls off the lot... my civic has the occasional rattle, and i had the driver seat fixed... but y'know... it hasn't left me stranded on the side of the road anywhere like the 2001 sunfire i helped out on the weekend. You see I did research before buying this car.. I found out that it isn't actually a racecar! imagine that. In fact, it's nothing more than one of the top economy cars on the road... I drive it as such, and here i am 8mos later and not disappointed in the least with my car.

Anyways best of luck with your datsun. cya.

i guess that the dx is the almighty civic, cause i have had mine for almost 1 year now and the only time it went into the shop was for the 2 recalls and inspection, plus the time that i fried my electrical system with my amp and exposed wires(my fault), but suprisingly i got it all fixed and a new battery out of it for 15 bux and the only problem with my car that i noticed is MILD vibration, nothing that bad cause for 2 months i went without any form of audio in my car and i never really heard strange noises although it did get real boring... i love my honda but if you do have problems then take it back as for me i will keep it anohter year or 2

plus i need my car casue i drive 200 miles a day to school and back and most other cars would leave me penniless every month but this one helps me out...

Thank you I apreciate that. Well on a good note I guess I finally got my brakes replaced under warrenty. Hey it only took 12,000 miles to get them to do it.

<< I would talk to me about Honda being Sh$t. My dad HAD a chrysler Sebring a few years ago. That car's transmission broke a month after he bought it. Now thats bad. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.........remember that. >>

I had my car for less than a week and the transmission problem began. DON"T tell me that the grass isn't always greener.

I have a feeling you were talking to NYCIVIC but if you were talking to me and missed the problems with my car let me relist them for you
1. Transmission popping out of second gear(should have been covered under TSB#01-081 but since they couldn't reproduce the problem they wouldn't fix the problem. They knew nothing about the TSB and had initially told me the problem was caused by me forcing my car into gear without even looking at the car)
2. The SRS sensor malfunctioned.
3. Brakes were gone at 5,000 miles(they saw no defect in the brakes its just cuz I'm a sh!tty driver)
4. Yeah I have all the little rattles
5. the alternator went
6. the cv boot went
7. the front ball joint was damaged
8. the front knuckle bearing was damaged
9. my strut still has not been fixed
10. the driver window makes an obnoxious noise
11. the windsheild is chipping more than I have ever seen a windsheild chip
12. Now my transmission (since replacing gears 1, 2, and 5 and replacing the shift fork for gears 1 and 2)doesn't always want to go into gears 1 and 3
13. my speedometer (can't reproduce therefore won't fix)

I know there are more but i just can't keep track anymore

<< But let me ask you a question, does you civic get you from point A to point B??? I bet it does. And it to where you want to be with great fuel economy. >>

no it doesn't always get me from point A to point B since it is in the shop and Honda refuses to give me a rental car.

So like I have said before for those of you that got a great Civic more power to you but for those of us that got sh!tty Civics let us vent our frusrations without people telling us that we are wrong. I know I will win and my time will come but guess what I just have to deal with this sh!tty car until the dumba$$es at Honda get their sh!t together. If you don't like what I have to say or what other people with problems have to say then don't post in the VEHICLE/ISSUES FORUM!!!!!! It is as simple as that!

A lot of people say "There has been nothing wrong with my Civic, it's been perfect since day 1.".......

Well, so are some Hyundais. And Pontiacs. And Dodges. And Ladas. They can all be perfect...

But you know what? What differenciates a reliabe automaker vs an unreliable one is the BIG picture. And the fact is, the 7th Gen Civic has been generally, overall, not very reliable. Not just to Honda standards, but the automaker's general standards.

If you talk to an honest Honda mechanic, they will tell you that. Of course, not one mechanic knows all the answers. After all, he fixes and maintanes a small percentage of Civics on the road. However, I've quested the reliability of the new Civics to 8 Honda mechanics, and 7 of them told me that they are not reliable.

So yeah, to say the new Civics are unreliable, is a fair. Maybe it was an engineering error, or poor quality control. Whatever it may be, it is pi$$ing off a lot of customers who paid a lot of money to buy a brand new car. And a supposively a reliable one, with a Honda reputation.

ive had my 02 ex since jan. 7 and it hasnt been to the dealer since. sure the interior has some rattles, but they are nothing compared to the glove box rattle i had in my 88 dodge omni that was so loud that it could still be heard with the radio at max volume or the really loud rattles in my girlfriends POS 95 hyundai elantra
