Say what you will but the civic you traded will be running when the mazda you are driving is in the salvage yard. I own a 2k1 mazda and a 2k1 civic and the civic is a much better car and in five years the civic will be worth twice as much money. I like most people have had very few problems with there civic Not so with the mazda it has been back to the dealer several times . If I owned a mazda I certainly would not be on a honda forum flaming civics I would find a mazda forum I am sure you will find enough to complain about after a few miles. Wow, I'm surprised. So far my 2002 EX sedan is the only new car I have ever had that has made it to 1 year now without any minor problems. Nothing rattles, no leaks, I love it aside from it being a little on the weak side. I probably just got lucky this time. Any car can have problems when you drive it off the lot.

Firefly! lets see you own a mazda and you are on a honda forum bashing the civic, hmmmm. sounds to me like envy. I am sorry you traded your civic for a mazda but don,t try to convince people on a honda forum that there ride is a POS. Like I said we have all made mistakes why don,t you just admit you wish you had your civic back.......I really feel sorry for you dude!

Time to put in my $.02

These cars are crap. I felt safer & liked my old POS 5th gen hatch a hell of alot better. If I wasnt upside down on my loan I would sell it in a heartbeat & get me another 5th gen hatch. Never again will I buy a new car or much less a new civic.

RON aside from the resale value of your car what is SO great about it? I'm sorry but the 7th gen vic is the worst gen of the vics. There have been more problems with these cars than any previous gen. I understand you love Honda that you have this weird love for Honda and that you haven't been through the HELL that a lot of us have but deal with it this gen sucks a$$. The suspension is awful, the engine blows, the interior rattles like it is cool, the trannys are the worst on the market (in my opinion), the SRS sucks, the speedos and gauges are problematic, the body is alright(i do think it looks better than most other vics), it is not a safe car and just down right terrible craftsmanship on Honda's part. I do not feel safe driving my car. I am always afraid something is going to happen and my car is going to die on me. I and not the biggest person and I am female so my fear is one day I'm gonna get stuck somewhere by myself and then what? All because Honda will not own up to it's mistake. That is the last thing I need. NO my car does not get me from point a to point b on a regular basis. The car is in the dealership more than it is on the road. The resale value for this gen is not as good as past years I'm sorry it isn't. There are more of this gen vic in used car lots than any other gen. My friend is the manager of the Honda used store here and I have seen at least 15 7th gen vics cross his lot in the past year or so. Most of the time they sit there for a long time before they can get rid of them. All I'm saying is HONDA SCREWDED UP LIKE IT OR NOT! Now they just need to own up to their mistake and make it so their customers don't have to pay for their mistake anymore. Ron you mentioned something about a Mazda not outlasting a vic I'm sorry that isn't necesarily true and as far as the resale value on a vic versus a Mazda also not necesarily true either. We had an 84 mazda that was mint condition that lasted long after the 84 vic did. The 84 vic at the time we could have gotten maybe $500 for now the mazda on the other hand we could have gotten damn near $3000. So you have you look at things like that. Both cars we taken care of in the same manor BUT the Mazda outlasted the Honda by YEARS AND YEARS. All I'm saying Honda isn't doing to well right now. They need to start taking care of business and honestly they need to work on their customer service in a MAJOR way.

2cute, you keep saying Honda as a company in whole is going down cuz of their deteriorating quality. Well the latest JD Powers seems to suggest otherwise: http://www.msnbc.com/news/759355.asp?cp1=1

As you can see, Toyota and Honda are 1 and 2, respectively, for the 7 largest car makers in the world. So what are going to say now? That JD Powers doesn't mean anything? I suppose any information would only be meaningful to YOU if it showed Honda in a bad light, right?

The RSX continuously gets rave reviews in head-to-head comparison tests... the Odyssey is ranked as the best minivan... the new Pilot is getting rave reviews even before its official release ... the MDX was voted best luxury SUV... the TL was ranked no. 1 by edmunds in a head-to-head comparison for luxury sports sedans... and the S2000 is as close to an "affordable" dream car as you're going to get.

But I suppose this is all evidence that Honda is going down, right? Well if they are going down, I get the feeling they're not exactly too worried right now ...

You make all these generalizations about Honda as a whole, based on the fact that you have a single lemon on your hand. So let me ask how can you realistically expect other people to take your opinions seriously then? So then you're going to say that other people here have lemons... ok, sure... what about the 4000 other members who don't have lemons? And even if the 7th gen was more problematic, is that enough evidence to suggest the entire Honda Motor Company is going down?

A while ago, you made a statement about how you get "reemed" everytime you make a statement about how Honda sucks. Well, perception is everything on open forums. And I believe the WAY you say things in almost all your posts just tends to invite flaming from other people. If you're going to be confrontational and add a Honda flame in each of your posts (on a Honda forum no less), and make unfounded generalizations about Honda, then you should be expecting no less than confrontational responses in return.

And BTW, this is a Honda ENTHUSIASTS website... how else would you expect people to respond to your unfounded generalizations about Honda? If I went onto a Mazda or Toyota site and start screaming and yelling about how those companies are going down due to my lemon Mazda or lemon Toyota, would you not expect people there to flame the crap out of me? Hell yeah ...

-----------------------------------

And I already know how you're going to respond : " All I'm saying is that I got a crappy lemon and therfore Honda sucks and need to get their act together and their service sucks and blah blah blah"... I know it all by heart now, so you can spare all of that.

The point of my post is that you make too many unfounded generalizations about the entire Honda company as a whole, with very little concrete evidence to back it up besides your own negative experience with your Civic and those of some other people complaining on this board.

Don't take this as a flame because it isn't. IMO, you would get more useful replies and less flaming to your problems if you weren't so confrontational and caustic with your postings in the first place, and if you were able to back up your generalizations.

But that's just a friendly suggestion, and I don't expect you to take it. So just keep on saying how much Honda sucks, because it's become so much like a broken record, that I'm guesing not too many people here take your complaints seriously anymore... except, of course, the 5 or so other chronic complainers here.

Some problems here are major and some are nagging. All manufacturers have problems, some have more then others.

My story is of my mother. She made the mistake of buying a 96 Plymouth Grand Voyager. She had it back to the dealer nearly 40 times for repairs. In the short 90,000 miles she owned it she went through a couple transmissions, an engine, a few air conditioners, a BCM, a few serpentine belt tensioners, a gas tank, an entire exhaust system, etc. When she finally dumped it at 90k barely anything worked on it. The drivers side sliding door did not open, the rear hatch would not open, the parking brake was defective, the wipers would come on for no reason. She babied this car, maintained it by the book (at the Dodge dealer by the way). She says she will never step foot near another Chrysler again.

I just wanted to let you all know I booked my car and my hubby's car. My hubby has a 2000 Civic DX hatchback with 45,000 miles on it. I have a 2001 Civic DX coupe with 20,000 miles on it. His car booked for $9,515 and mine for $9,410. So now once again tell me they hold value. Oh and Ron you still haven't said what is so great about the civic other than it's "great resale value".

I think HONDA's are really best judged on their resale over the long term. But, I'm not going to defend them. I personally fall on the side of being very disappointed in this newest model. I sure as hell hope they do hold their resale value though, because by next year I'm trading this thing in.

I have a 2k1 lx auto that has been perfect no problems at all like most other new civics, I can,t understand why anyone would want to trade a 7gen civic in. The only car honda supplies that has questionable reliability is the passport but even they have a great trade in value.......best think is to get the bugs out of you car and keep it civics run hundreds of thousands of miles if serviced properly and taken care of....
