no cat and having lil problem on hp

i just got this car and i notice first off after two days of buying the car off the used dealer. i was gettin slow hp on the highway. and the engine light came up. i had the car scan and came up with the p0420 code of the cat. so i look at the motor to the headers (their are aftermarket header on this car) but when i look under the car, their is no cat so i been running without the cat for almost a week now.

so should i order the cat or just the o2 senor and then get the cat later that week.

need help real soon.

Re: no cat and having lil problem on hp

well you need a cat otherwise the engine light will always be on. it wont really affect how the car runs, its just there to clean the exhaust gases. the second sensor in the cat tells the ecu if its working properly. does not affect performance.

Make sure you are not in limp mode for whatever reason. FYI you will run a bit leaner w/o the cat.
