My 2001 LX (auto) has gradually developed very loose steering. There is almost no feedback in the wheel after 155k. My wife drives a 2000 LX (only 55k) and it feels like I'm turning a crank to raise a bridge compared to my 01.
Could this be a symptom of a worn power steering pump? I had the tie rods and ends checked and they are nice and tight. The power steering system was just flushed 1k miles ago. The control rod bushings are worn and I'm planning to replace them with some polyurethane bushings... could this potentially be the cause of the loose steering?
