Sorry.... Newbie Question: After Exhaust and Intake Replacement????

At the risk of sounding like the jacka$$ newbie that didn't search for anything..... (i really did)......... here goes:

Even though my wife's had her 02 Civic EX Coupe for 7 years, the only thing I've ever done to it is change the oil. Now that we've decided to have fun with it... I'm finding that I don't know anything about them.

One of the first things I'm planning on doing "performance-wise" is headers, catback and CAI. On these Civics do you not need to do anything after that to compensate for the increased intake/outake? Granted, I'm clueless and new to Hondas, but any car or motorcyle I've done this to has either needed to be re-jetted or re-mapped and I'm not seeing any references to this (maybe I'm not looking in the right place....) The closest thing I'm finding are folks talking about how these engines are made for MPG and not performance (why we bought it...) and that your not going to get but a couple more ponies. So, I'm starting to think that you don't have to do anything.

Thanks in Advance!

PS... If anyone wants to point me in the direction of the "best" intake debate thread... I'd appreciate it. I havent made my mind up yet...hell, that goes for the exhaust too.

Re: Sorry.... Newbie Question: After Exhaust and Intake Replacement????

these mods are mainly for sound and looks. dont expect any extra power. intake wouldnt hurt anything, exhaust and header you should be careful and not go too big on the piping or you will end up losing power. there are alot of review threads about these mods so just take a look around. and check the parts review section too. and no there is nothing to really be done after install, the ecu will make minor changes over time to adjust.

You ECU will relearn and make adjustments to your AFR (air fuel ratio)

I've got two links in my sig that could help you out- so check them out. Also search for the "rate your intake" thread, where everyone, well, rates their intake
