I searched a few threads and got some helpful information, I just want to confirm a couple things before I call a mechanic.
2001 EX Sedan Manual. ~150,000 miles
When driving home the other day on the highway (about 70mph), my car started a bucking or jerking motion. I would let off the gas and it would stop. Anytime I was over about 60mph it would start if I was pressing the accelerator. I went back out today and it did the same in low gears. I'm shifting at about 2300 rpm trying to avoid the jerking motion.
My idle is kind of jumpy when first starting the car, also. Jumping around between 600 and maybe 1300rpm. When stopping the car, it'll sometimes dip really low when i put it in neutral, just under the first tick on the tachometer, but never stalls
I'm getting a P1259, which i'm almost certain is due to low oil. Two days before the CEL, I saw my oil light go on and off on a hard turn and hard brake. I checked the oil today and it was very low and dirty. I'm changing it in the morning. Anything else I should check after my oil change, as far as that CEL code if I've been running low oil?
The second code I'm getting is P0336, which I understand to be a camshaft position sensor. If i'm getting that code, is that the one that's making the car jerk while accelerating and idle funny? Do I simply need to get the sensor changed? What's the average cost of that job and/or part? I hate going to the dealer, but I've had zero issues with the car until now, so I want to just have them take care of it. I want to be sure that replacing the sensor will fix this issue.
Will I do damage by driving like this too long (after the oil change, of course)? I have to go to work and such if I cant get it taken care of tomorrow.

I have had the same problem within the past week. It starts at 4000 RPM for me and it will happen every time in any gear except first. My check engine light had been on for a couple months and the code that came back was for the catalytic converter. I had that replaced yesterday and the bucking problem stopped. This morning the check engine light comes back on and the problem is there again. I am bringing it back to the shop in the morning. I hope someone can shed some light on this.
could be worn motor mounts. but more than likely the cam sensor. i would replace that first and go from there. if the oil light came on even for a second, you may have done damage to the motor.
Had a similar issue about 2.5 years ago. Unsteady (hunting) idle, rough running, surging or bucking. Fixed it by replacing the stock air filter with a K&N free flowing fileter (just a stock replacement, nothing fancy like a cold air pipe). Cured it within a few 10's of kms and it's been fine since. Filter was around $60 (about the cost of three paper filters). Worth a try.
