Rep Power: 0 Civic 2002 Clutch replacement price
Hi, I have a honda civic DX 2002 sedan 5-speed manual transmission, about 154,000 miles. I took it into a Midas to get an estimate on replacing a cracked manifold and besides confirming that I had a cracked manifold I was told that I needed to have my clutch replaced. I will admit my clutch feels flimsy and squeaks sometimes. For the clutch they said it would cost $700 for parts and labor. Does replacing a clutch mean replacing the parts that come in a clutch kit? Something like this:http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...CR3172020.html
I'm sure more money can be charged since it is labor intesive to remove everything to get to the clutch, but just wanted to make sure if $700 is fair price. Should I look for something cheaper, I am in the Phoenix area.
Also a question about the manifold, is honda "picky" about the catalitic converter installed? I told them I found a manifold that cost about $350

They warned me that hondas are sensitive about the type of the catalytic converter installed and if I go with the wrong type my maintenance Required light would stay on and I would not be able to pass inspection. Is there any truth to this?
Thanks in advance for anyone's input.

Re: Civic 2002 Clutch replacement price
Where in Phoenix?...i live in Chandler.... and Vivid racing in Tempe area... for parts and labor for a stage 2 clutch quoted me at $1100 bucks(2002 civic EX).... my friend said a dealer would charge less or same for a stock replacement clutch... but i dont think 700 is outrageous. Im sure you could go around and find some shop to do it for less... but that takes time and then if you get bad vibes from the place, and you need your car to go to work the next day.... so many decisions
