vtec help

i have a 03 ex 5 spd and the vtec only kicks in once in a while. the car was in an accident about a year ago and it was repaired by a qualified shop. i could always feel the vtec before the accident but now it might kick in @ 4500 to 5000 then stops, then again it kicks in for a few rpm then shuts off again? i took it to honda and they said they didnt find anything wrong, i know its jacked up though. also, my clutch creaks when i puch it in and realease it. any help would be appreciated. thanks. You have a VTEC-E motor. Vtec activates at anywhere from 2500 to 3000 rpms. It was never kicking in at 4500 it cant. You were feeling the powerban of the motor. We dont have the cam for high rpm activation. Your thinking you got a SOHC VTEC motor but you have a SOHC VTEC-E economy version!! Which is the only version we have in America. Goes from 12 valve economy mode to 16 valve mode when vtec is engaged around 2500 rpm's. About the clutch mine does that to and you could probably grease the clutch pedal backside or spray some WD40 on it. I think there is a d16w8 wich is a 3 stage Vtec. Its like ours but does kick in to high cam vtec mode. But thats over in the phillipenes or somthing. Good luck!!!
