DTC P0730: Problem in Shift Control System
NOTE:
. Record all freeze data and review General
Troubleshooting Information (see page 14_3) before
you troubleshoot.
. Keep replacement solenoid valves on hand;
- A,/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves B and C
- Shift solenoid vatves A, B, C, D, and E
1. Check whetherthe OBD ll scan tool indicates
another code.
Does the OBD lt scan toot indicate another code?
YES Perform the troubleshooting flowchart for
the indicated Code(s). Recheck for code pO730 after
troubleshooting.l
NO Go to step 2.
NOTE: Do not continue with this troubleshooting
until the causes of any other DTCS have been
corrected.
2. Measure the 1st. 2nd, 3rd. 4th, and sth clutch
pressure (see page 14-123).
ls each clutch pressure within the service limit?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO Repair the hydraulic system as necessary.I
3. Replace the shift solenoid valves A, B, C, D, and E
(see page 14-127).
4. Replace the A,/T clutch pressure control solenoid
valves B and C (see page't4-'tg2).

Helms, is that very similar to Haynes books? All i can find are Haynes books for our cars and no helms. Where can i find a helms?

And i guess in that book it shows you how to check the clutch pressure and etc. correct?

You have to order Helms... Basically, Helms>>>>>>>>>>all others. Helms is what they use in the dealers and such, they cost about $70 or so, but are well worth it.

Ok I am a bit confused as I am reading the ordeal on how to check the clutch pressures because there are 4 speeds in the auto and there are 4 inspection holes to hook a gauge up to, 1 for each gear, then a line inspection hole to hook up to. But they only say you need a A/T oil pressure gauge set with panel and that panel has 3 gauges on it. But you must need 5 to hook up to each one. then you need 4 pressure hoses and 4 pressure hose adapters. Oh and BTW, you need the HDS to hook up to the data link connecter, basically the scan tool. then is basically says to run the car in different gears at different RPM to check.

Now If you dont want to do all that and dont have the tools and dont want to pay a shop, the next best thing would be to go ahead and replace the shift solenoid valve A and B and replace the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A and B. and then see if that cures the problem. reset the ECU and see if the code comes back up. If it doesnt, then either the clutch pressures were out or the tranny is bad. But it is up to you.

^ thanks man, wonder how much a solenoid would cost? Its prolly cheaper to take it to a shop and have them run that test. And if its the solenoids, i am sure i could take those out and put the new ones on since they are located outside the tranny.

Well I looked up the cost on majestics website and it gives vague descriptions of the solenoids, but most of them cost between $100-$250. So it might be cheaper to just replace the tranny again.

But where did you buy the used tranny from?

i bought a CD off ebay with the helms manual, was maybe $5. it's a PDF file, 40MB. i'll transfer it to you on AIM if you want it, it's for an RSX but most of the DTC's are the same and steps to resolve it. extremely helpful. i don't see one for a 7thgen on ebay right nowor i'd direct you to it.

no not yet, i just finished paying off the mechanic that installed the tranny... I guess i plan on finding a wrecker company that can tow my lowered car to HONDA and see what the dealer says. I know they will more then likely tell me i need a new tranny. Also, the mechanic said he has been researching the troubles i have been having, and he said that it might be my computer messing up the tranny's or the engine somehow. I am really convinced that i will need a new tranny, since this tranny is making the same exact noise my old one made before it went caaaableewwwwyyyy
