Why does my gas door never open???

My gas door has been like this for the past 4 months...just been lazy as heck. I press the latch down to pop it open and it doesnt open. So i end up having to go through the trunk...twistin the lil popper thingie and then hittin the latch and then it opens. I already took it to the dealer once and i thought it fixed cause the door opened 3 or 4 times when he pushed the latch after adjusting the popper but now i have to go through thetrunk each time and do all that. Anyone else have that problem? TIA. Late. To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

You can actually open the fuel door by going through the trunk?? This may be useful to know, in case something does happen.
Which lil popper thingie are you referring to, TopFuel?

This just happend to me:

After I finshed gassin up my Civ, i twist the cap on and push the fuel door closed. I hear a clatter sound from behind the door, like some metal piece inside came loose. I go to pop the door open to see what popped loose, and the damn door dosen't move! I have no idea if there is a manual door popper in the trunk (sounds like there is), but I can't find anything in the instruction manual.

I have 250 miles left before I need to refuel. How do I manually pop the fuel door open?? (I'm gonna call the local dealer tomorrow to see what I need to show for warrenty work (leased car) )

ha, fixed it. I AM AWESOME err, yea...

I had a friend pry/push the fuel door open while I pressed the door release lever. The metal piece that came loose was the spring that pops the door open when the latch is released. It was still stuck inside, so I slipped it back into place. Problem fixed!
