SRS Side Airbags Light

Its happened a few times that the Side Airbag light goes off when the front passenger unbuckles the seat belt and opens the door. Has this happened to anyone? If so I need your help. To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

i think it might be because the sensors see something in the path of the airbag, so it wouldnt deploy if there was an accident

The dealership replaced one of my seat belts because of the same problem. I don't know for sure if it would deploy due to one of the sensors being out of wack. Definitely take it in and have it checked out.

Hey Importracer, I tried what you said for a few times but nothing happened. One thing i'm sure of is that it's an intermittent thing. So far, it has only happened a few times, next time it happens, I'll bring it in. I'l take DHOWPB's advise

Thanks

Mine has been staying on for about 2 months now..I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. It will go out when someone sits in the passenger seat, but stays on when the seat is empty.. any ideas on that?

A guy at my work has been having the same problem.. every time he took it to honda they sort of brushed it off,. but now they tell him to come in everytime it stays on b/c they have to reset the sensor or something. He said they told him there is going to be some sort of letter issued to people having to problem to come in and have it fixed at some point,. *shrug*

Does anybody on here know how to reset the side airbag sensor? I would much rather do that than take it to the dealer..

I recently found out while reading the owners manual that it is normal if the "Side Airbag Off" sign turns on. It means that the system automatically turns the side airbags off it it senses something on its pth if it ever deploys.

Try this one out, put some weight on the seat back near the edge of the side airbags and the light will turn on.

If it stays on, something is really wrong.

actually, my light went on a while ago. i took it into the dealer and they told me it was becuase my cellphone signal causes the light to come on. so they reset it for me...and a few days later...pops up again. i haven't bothered taking it in just to get it reset. but my 10k maintenance is up..so i'll remind them of it

Does anybody think its possible that the amp 12v wire could be interfering with it? My 12v runs through the center console and under the seat near the plugs for the airbag. I can't think of anything else that is causing it.
