brake light out but not burnt out

my left brake light is out but the bulb isnt burnt out or anything. when i turn my lights on you they turn on but you cant see if i am hitting the brake. even when i unlock the doors or lock you can see both lights light up but its just when i hit the brake that it wont. Send a message via AIM to streetglower
it should be the bulb. Your bulb has 2 filaments in it. Just like the headlight has a high and low beam. The filament that is used when you press the brake is out. just like when the low beam on a headlight goes out, and only the high beam works. Take the bulb from the other light and put it in there and see if it works. If it does, then it is just the bulb. This most likely is the problem.

Correct. If a new bulb doesn't fix it, then it might be a bad switch. But it's probably the bulb.

i had the same problem when i had my car and it wasn't the bulbs(it was actually both of my brake lights). if it's not the bulb check your fuses.
