My tranny doesn't do this...but when shifted into drive, it hesitates before fully engaging. I just wait for it. BTW, you don't know what junk is until you've owned a Ferd or Chebby. I've both and I've bought my last one. No more. Civics may not be perfect, but they're good. TC

yeah i wait 3-4 secs sometimes before it catches shifting to D. hey have you had problems with slippage in the higher rpm? feels like the engine is hesitating but i think the gear just isnt grabbing.

FWIW, I don't think Ferd ever admited the Taurus had a weak tranny that was prone to failure before 100,000 miles. The finally strengthened it a few years back. I think there was a 'hidden' warranty on those that failed.

Re: Transmission - Jerky - Automatic - HELP!
Mine is Civic FD1 (8th gen for US) 2011 with 36,000 km
As my bro left this nearly 3-year-old at home without proper service for the past year with 21,000 km on it so i swop mine with his. (Tein is too stiff for baby
For the past 5 months it has been annoying and i've been disappointed driving this thing through horrible traffic in Bangkok every day...
As it suffers a tranny (A/T) jerking and throttle hesitation throughout 10-40Km/h (1st-3rd gear) so i cannot get close to other cars as i have to leave room for some error caused by randomly delay in the power to push this car forward. Also, horrible handling is a bonus as i cannot really control it over bumps and sewer covers.
After +25 litres of ATF changing (FYI: 9 litres for the whole tranny and it normally being changed for only 3 litres at a time), new external ATF filter, cleaning the butterfly valve in throttle body, cleaning fuel filter, valve clearance adjustment, DC5 type R spark plugs, ECU reseting at 4-5 times, visit authorised dealers 5-6 times, visit private garages 5 times... So i reach the point that i might return it to my bro, get tranny rebuilt, get used tranny from Japan or get used tranny with larger engine???
I really worry because once i was driving used e220 (w124) and it has this kind of problem. I get the tranny rebuild but the problem is still there so i sell it.
I also put in the injector cleaner in fuel tank twice. In fact, the condition is temporary improved because of high octane in the cleaner. So the last garage as an injector rebuild specialist recommend me to adjust valve clearance again (i did it once last month) and the problem is gone
The mechanic in the last garage explain to me that the incorrect valve clearance will leave engine run with less power and the tranny will be trying to do down shifting to get more power from the weak engine.
