malfunction indicator lamp problem

Hi I have a problem with this yellow light that looks like an engine which is called Malfunction Indicator Lamp. It went on last week and when i clicked my gas cap and reset my ECU it went away. Yesterday after about 5-6 days without it on, it came back on after driving stop and go. What could this be? I'm thinking maybe the gas cap is loose again b/c seemed like the guy didnt click it 3 times again, and maybe it could be my next exhaust system (magnaflow) which i got 2 weeks ago. What do you guys think? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

I don't think it's any of those things. The loose gas cap will do it, but then it goes away after a while. Make sure it's on tight. Best thing is find a shop that can read the error codes and tell you what's wrong, but it's probably the cap.

I have the same problem. I changed my cat out though. It is a code: P0420 67 Catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold. I think I need to fake the O2 sensor.

Did you reset your computer? What type of exhaust setup do you have? I have all DNX, headers, downpipe, mid, and muffler. I heard that "Caspers Electronics" (www.casperselectronics.com) makes a good 02 sim. If you are still having the problem after getting the o2 simulator then I don't know if I should even bother. Anyone else have this problem?

My Malfunction light has been on and off for the past 3 weeks. I got it checked at autozone the first time and the problem was "Fuel evaporation" or something like that, basically the problem people have with the gas cap. I made sure it was tight, which I have been doing since I had the problem a year before, and 5 days later it goes away. It eventually comes back on again for many days, and just today it went back off. Im starting to think that it could possibly be my gas cap going bad or something. If not, then it is probably a leak somewhere else in my fuel system.

Dude, i have that same problem, except I have a cat with a high flow exhaust. I've had the light checked twice at Autozone and it threw the P0420 code. I don't know wtf the deal is.

Gys i've been having this same problem, but mine comes on at about half a tank, and then goes off when i fill it back up. When i had autozone check it. It showed a misfire in all four cylinders. So i changed the plugs and that wasnt it, it just came back on the other day. I go in nexxt tuesday to have it looked at, ill let you guys know what i find out.
