Maint. Req'd light at 16,200 miles

Tonight when I started my car I have 16,202 miles and the maintenance required light flashed for like 5 seconds after I started it and then it went off. I assume that since it's not on the whole time it doesn't mean anything is wrong, right? Is this just some preprogrammed "go-give-you-dealer-more-money" lights? I just got an oil change like 2000 miles ago so that's not it. Can I just reset it manually and be done with it?

Thanks.

Oh man you're gonna get flamed for that. It's been asked so many times already. But before this gets locked, I'll tell you. Mine is flashing 10 times on startup and I'm at 18K. Soon it will just stay on. And yeah, it's just a way for stupid people to take it to the dealer. There's nothing wrong and the manual tells you how to reset it. My 20K maintenance is coming up, but the only real things are a brake check and rotation. I'm trying to find somewhere else to take it, cause honda wants hundreds of dollars for this!

Hehe, when you have over 10,000 points you don't have to search, you can just ask whatever you want

It's like the rich guys that go to the bank and the people at the bank bend and break rules for these people just because they have a lot of money in their accounts there. (I know, I used to work at a bank and it would piss me off when my managers did favors for the people who had a lot of money there).

if it only blinks 5 times that is kind of odd. Usually it should blink 11. Does it do it all the time? it tells you how to reset the light in the owners manual. Hold the odometer button in, put the car in I or II and hold for about 10-15seconds. That should reset it.

Just poke the light out with a ice pick, I mean it easier than reading the owners manual.

The light is starting to flash because you are approching(sp) your 20k mile check up from honda.

Stupid people do not bring their car in for everything because of the light. My dad purchased that car for me to use. I have brought the car in every time the light came on. He wants me to, its not really my choice. In doing that, honda reconises that I take care of my car and bring it to them. Yes, some of the servicies cost a lot of money. I have done all maintance on pervious cars. And I have installed all my aftermarket stuff.
