anyone want to do it ? i found the LED replacement bulb for our gauge cluster, so you don't have to find the condom bulb, lighting gel etc but it's kinda expensive though.. almost $10 USD per bulb + shipping and it's easy to replace
there's 5 bulb (for the gauges alone, not including the other sign for brake, open trunk etc) + 1 (for the odometer) if you want to do it. (not sure about the auto, there should be like 5~6 more bulb for that)
there's several different colour to choose from
and as for the dash console, i haven't had a chance to look into the bulb type yet

hmm..thats pretty expensive...
i saw a pic at revscene where some guy just used regular blue LEDs and shone them facing the gauge cluster and it turned out pretty good plus it has that "show" effect on it...
for a regular blue led, you must add a resistor to it, plus you must do some kind of soldering
it's true that it's way cheaper, but there's also the risk of fying up your led or even your cluster from improper soldering. I'm still searching for a cheaper alternative that is as good as the $10 led bulb with no soldering whatsoever
this is just a preliminary to see how many ppl are interested..
Here you can find more info about the bulb itself, i think the closest match is the first item
bulb no 74 = T1 3/4
hmm...not really a big risk...an LED only takes up around 10-30mA...simple calculations to get the desired resistor are not that crucial since you have a big discrepancy...so compute using the worst case scenario (meaning calculate for the 10mA current)...use a multimeter with the setting on voltage...check which one is the negative or positive in the gauge cluster...then...
ahh...i'm just speaking from experience...but there is really nothing to it if you know even the basics of DC electronics...
if you do require help or have any questions just ask...
i'll keep that in mind.. thanks ...
so do u know any good LED retailer in GVA besides radio shack ? i want to get the brightest blue possible so that the red colour on the gauges becomes invisible..
i got mine for free coz i asked for samples from liteon inc...i always ask for samples and they give em...whats 5 or so out off millions that they develop...at the moment i have received a total of 10 blue leds and about 6 bright white leds...if you just want to buy it and don't want to wait 6 to 8 weeks then just order through future electronics...or any electronics place like intek or something...

radio shack is basicly the only place there are really no other places!![hr]
there's a lot of distributors out there for larger companies and they always give out samples...i should know i already mooched a lot of them...oh yah...i got 5 free LCD screens similar to the cellphone ones but i burnt out most of them..now i have one that works...spells out my name, car, temperature and battery voltage...
soon to be added to the car...
man thats not bad how were you able to hook that up?
when ever I try looking for led's or bulbs such as hyper white running lights and turn signals!! I can't find anything!!

there's tons of places like Active Components, used to be on marine drive, now it's moved to 1st and boundry i think...
places like radio shack are expensive in comparison if you're buying large quantities, however if you're buying like say a 100 resistors or led's etc etc places like Active or other suppliers will be cheaper.

low quantities like that (resistors) they'll just give it for free...they might charge you for leds though...
