Dude I didn't know you did flying over at Diamond... that's awesome.
As for me... I don't do security. I work for Executive Aviation (Ground Service International) and we do contract work for West Jet.
I do baggage, plane marshaling, de-icing and sh!t like that.

Oh.... I'll be going to the APC show this Tuesday.

Engine Swap

I posted this in GTA as well but I thought I would stick it in here as well since this thread is so active.

Does anyone know what the laws allow for an engine swap in the 2001+ ?

I found a JDM B16 and I wanna know if the emmissions laws allow me to use it.

As far as i know, i think it's against the law to put an engine that is older than your model year. But as for emmissions, as long as it passes emmissions, there shouldn't be a problem. To be legal, it has to be a D17 or a K20 i believe. Anything else would be a huge pain to install.

Hey Macfay, i saw your car on Sunday with numbers on the windshied. I'm assuming you went to Sparta on Saturday night. Did those cam gears make a difference? What did you run?

hiya...yeah...didn't have time to wipe it...and I drove it for Nate to wash the interior and the engine bay...

for the 1/4mile, the cam gear didn't help much, I notice that it set to advance 2 or 3 degrees instead of retard 2 degree(as I wanted)...but i need to dyno with test and tune in order to make maximum performance...

I was able to average 16.2 and 16.3 for three runs, but not less than 16.1 this time...I guess I won't go to the track within this month...

my next mod will be ACT flywheel and clutch...

So now do you have to retard 4 or 5 degrees to get it where you want it? You need to do the header conversion like i did. I don't know what i'll run but i know it will be better than 17.2. I can feel a big difference once i hit 4500 rpms. I won't go to Sparta this week (except for Sunday to watch the import racing) but i'll go the next friday night as long as the weather is good.

I guess I will try to change the degree once I got the flywheel and clutch installed. I want to install the header too, but worry about the emission. I'm thinking to use the aftermarket Si header with random technology cat and weld it to my existing cat back...I will do this later instead.

I was worried about the emmissions too but if anything i think my car runs cleaner now than before. My header is for the Si. It is the 4 into 1 header. Make a custom downpipe, put a hi flo emmissions legal cat on the bottom, and extend the o2 sensors. It's a pretty easy job for a good mechanic. Whatever you do, do not get the DC header. Get the HP header. A lot bigger which means more power.

Not necessarily. You could gain top end, but end up losing power down low.

No, you just need to extend the o2 sensors. I used the factory sensors. No check engine light or anything. Works great. The DC Sports header is dynoed at 4 hp gains over stock for our cars. The HP Racing header is dynoed at 14. Trust me you feel it. Even Mike at U/P says the DC isn't even worth the money. And he has it on his car!

Hey APRBoy, thats not 14 to the wheels right? Just want to make sure.

How many extra ponies do you think you've got now with your setup?

No, it's 10 to the wheels i believe. The entire exhaust setup now with the header, downpipe, hi flo cat, 2.25" stainless steel exhaust and vibrant muffler probably gives me about 16-17 hp. And the INJEN RD gives 8-9 so i'm probably around the 140 hp mark. I don't know. Feels a hell of a lot stronger though now.

30 hours... damn ... you're almost there. What are your next steps after you get your commercial?

As for the APC meet, it was cancelled again due to weather. Nobody knows what's going on with it... whether they're going to reschedule again, or just cancel it all together.

Anyways, is anyone going to the meet tonight? I'll be there for a bit just to pick up an amp but I'm leaving shortly after because I don't wanna wait in line to get into Jim Bobs.

APRboy, you have LX right? Does the hp header require shaving like before?

Where did you order it? How much did you pay?
