New wheels?!?

Hey guys,

I have a 2002 Black Civic Si Veloz and i got an offer to sell my stock wheels, so i'm am looking to get 16 or 17" wheels... Any advice on what type of wheel and where would be the best place to buy them?? And also if i go with 17" wheel, i don't have any mod to my suspension, would it leave a big gap in the fender or would it be ok...

Thanks for your advice!

if u put on 17" without lowering your car, the car will be a little higher than stock, i dunno about the gap though

Hey SiVeloz,

I would suggest lowering it for sure cause it does leave a pretty big gap. I remember that I couldnt wait to drop my car after I got my rims cause I hated the gap.

I would suggest going with 17"s and I am not sure where the best place to get your rims would be.

Actually your wheel well gap will not increase with 17's... it's the size of the tires that will determin that.

If you go with typical civic 205/4017 tires, the overall diameter of the wheels will shrink.. your car wll be sitting lower, but your wheel well gaps will increase.

If you go with the super-sized 215/45/17 tires, it's the oppoosite--your car will sit higher, but because the overall diameter has increase, your wheel well gaps have actually shrunk.

The perfect size is 205/45/17. That is virtually identical size to stock. It's the size I would recommand!

That's right, 205/45/17 will not mess with your speedo..

I have 215/45/17 on my car now, and it's off by about 1%.. also gearing has noticeablely gotten longer.

205/45/17 should be right on. Play with the Tire Calc on the top of this fourm.. but you'll notice that 205/45 is your best bet.

DO NOT slap on your 17" without dropping your car's height first. It looks funny

Take it from me... i lowered my car on coilovers.....good ones, but i worked with thy stock struts and shocks and in return my one spring snapped just becuase of stress or whatever on the struts and shocks from being so low. This just happened and my car has been lowered for 7months..... I just switched to eibach lowering springs....the ride quality is 10 times better, and when i hit bumps ( allthough you should try and avoid them) it is more comfortable on springs than it was on coilovers.......on coilovers ide always bottom out....but i guess thats cuz my car was so much lower compared to what it is now on lowering springs.......It is totally up to you though.....depends how low you want your car........ If u want ill be getting a brand new set of skunk2 coilovers within the month.....Im getting them warrantied so im getting a new set...the retail for about 600.......Ill sell them for 500
