Corrections those are CHASIS CODES so its not engine codes
JHMxxxxxxxxxxxx - unit manufactured in japan (Sayama plant) 1HGxxxxxxxxxxxx - manufactured in US (Ohio plant)--NOTE this!!!!
PHxxxxxxxxxxxxx - Philippines stamped/manufactured
there are some locally distributed units that start with JHM, these are the 1200cc EF sold in 1991. all 1000+ units were imported from japan (SKD)

bringing this thread back from the dead =) sorry, I was doing a search to help me out on my list on chasis codes because I have yet to find a list on the internet that does not have an error =) Mine does too..
Isn't the EK9 the Type R? EK would be Japan, and there for...no coupes.
Both "EG" [92-95] and "EK" [96-00] will have EJ's codes for their coupes.
