Angry High whine in engine...Check that Tranny

This is basically what happened, a few days ago, i notice when i started the car the engine made a high whine sound. I didnt know what it was so i figured id take it to honda this weekend. So anyways yesterday im doing about 45 down a street and all of a sudden the engine backfires, and the car bucks. As it bucks it falls out of each gear, and slowly comes to a hult. Got it to honda about two hours later and low and behold the tranny blew. They dont know what caused it, I dont know what caused it.
Its a 2001 LX 2 Door. The only thing that i've done to this thing is put an audio system in.
a pioneer deck
4 speakers, 2 subs and an amp.

Anyone have an idea as to what the hell happened.
